I speak as a new player, for this was my first Beta Weekend Event.
Friday Morning: Wake up at 5:00 AM, Shivering with excitement.
- I watched as the Guild Wars client downloaded a minor update, did not take long. I got ingame and logged in. I was half-asleep but somehow I managed to make a sweet looking ranger. Then I gave him the name I had planned, Raymond Varis. I completed my character and it began a long download. It wasnt really that long, but with the excitement it seemed like an eternity (As with Half-Life 2).
- I finnaly got into the city of Ascalon, and was greeted by some dancing necromancers. I discovered the newbies in this game were rather quiet and only asked sensable questions (Unlike Runescape and other MMORPGS). I talked to Tydus, then the ranger out in the fields. I was amazed at the skill my ranger already had when I attacked the skales. I then received my reward and became level 2. I followed the rangers instructions and traveledto the next ranger.
- This guy taught me beast mastery skills so I went and got me a cat, named her Iya. I decided to go exploring, the world was very nice and there was a lot of eye candy. Eventually Iya and I ended up in the Catacombs. This is were I got my first two deaths, one from running into a geyser, the other from Iya running into a geyser. I dont remember why I was at the Catacombs but I managed to get out.
- My brother woke up around this time it was 7:30ish. He created a monk and we went out on a few quests. By then I was level five and had my secondary profession (Elementalist). I wont go into that because it consisted of getting lost in the mountian
. The bandits, however, and my Fire Storm move gained me alot of experiance. Static Deathbringer (one of us Guild Wars Gurus) convinced me to wait until level 7 to enter the Academy, that was good advice.- My friend (whom I pre-ordered the game along with) joined into the game and we attacked more bandits and got swarmed by river skales and all of that fun stuff. He had to leave and i did not see him for the rest of the day. That night I entered the Academy. When I finished downloading there was 3 seconds remaining on a timer, and I was with two random warrior girls. The countdown ended and I just followed them and attacked these two monks. In short, we won.
- We had to fight some beasts then we ended up back at ascalon. It was all ruined, but the backround sounds and Gargoyle speels created a well done spooky feel. I was shivering so hard my stomach started to hurt. We made it into the city and split up. I had alot to figure out.
