Question in Attribute Points

Here's something i was curious about as a new player and how it would affect me if at all.

While assigning my attribute points, I noticed that you could lower an attribute and get a refund so you could put points into another attribute. The refund from what I could see was less than what it cost to get there.. (ie. to get from Level 4 iLLusion Magic to Level 5, it cost me five points, yet the refund was only 4 points.)

Now when I first started my character, I think the first spells i got were Conjure Phantasm and Imagined Burden. Both Illusion Magic. So, of course I added points to that attribute, as well as to fast casting. Later on in the game I found Chaos Storm which is Domination Magic and found I wanted to use that instead. I refunded all but one point of the illusion magic and threw the remaing points into Domination.

My question is, where do these points go? Are they lost forever? Am I now at a loss for attribute points once I get to lvl 20 because of this? Anyone able to throw some insight on this? Because if they are lost forever, it makes it a bit unfair for a new player that is still figuring out what works.

you may have not noticed it correctly, but you should not be losing points when you refund an attribute level.

it takes a specified number of points to reach a certain attribute level. you should always get the points that were required to raise that level every time you spend a refund point. the only thing "lost" is the refund point, which needs to be regained via a number of ways..

You earn refund points as you level up which allows you to refund a point. It's the refund points that you're using to drop a level and you earn all the points back that it took to create that rank. You will still have (I believe) 200 total attribute points to use after you reach lvl 20.
