how to use runes

i have a few runes and would like to know how to use them. i can see they will work on my armor but i would like to improve upon a shadow sheild 16 and a fiery sword 15-22. both of these items have no enchantments on them but for some reason they runes won't work on them.

Runes only work on armor. You can't upgrade shields. You need a weapon upgrade (grip, haft, etc.) to add to your weapons.

I don't think runes work on weapons....

Runes only work on armor. You can only use one rune of any given type. It doesn't matter if its Minor, Major, or Supior. Only one rune per peice as well.

oh cause i read on here someone talking about getting a good sheild and putting a max health rune on it and then turning around and selling it for a lot og gold. i guess he was blowing smoke

So that means we can only have a total of 4 runes at one time? (armor, gloves, leggings and boots). Can we add rune to scar patterns, masks or hats?

You can have 5 runes at anytime ( patterns, masks, helmets) but whats the point? Every class has 4 attributes, so the 5th irune s just to deacrease health when needed.

And you can increase maximum health on weapons. Buy a +30 (max) health upgrade for ur weapon and u get +30 health.

You can, but only the highest one applies. The others are wasted.

Err, I have 5 attributes in my Ele. 4 elementals and 1 for Energy Storage, so I could wear 5 runes im my armor set.

Anyway I only use Superior Energy Storage in a 60AL collector's Vest and a Superior Air in my Storm Eye (so it gives me +4 to air). I also have a Droknar's Hydromancer Vest without rune, so I can change the Vests as needed. When I need energy but less health I wear the one with the rune. If I see I'm going out of health I wear the one without rune. Its like Weapon sets but not so fast.
