Look what I found!
Was that really the former look of Guild Wars? (I played the last 2 BWE)

What an improvement!
(besides, somehow they remind me of WoW )

omg! i wont be playing guildwars if it had that crappy graphics... OMG... i mean, guildwars as what i have experienced in the last BWE was just soooo good, i have played all other mmorpg's and this has the best graphics ever! (WoW's graphics is crap I'd say its just Warcraft3 made to mmorpg) i guess, what do you guys think?

No... if it actually look like the pics above I dont think I would play it (hard but true ) I'm a very visual person...

But they made their homeworks and did what they had to do and polished GW up for the year 2005

Sorry, thats not true. I played GW back in the E3 preview and it looked FAR better then that. Thats someone just playing on the lowest settings possible a year ago.

It seems that this is the only game that seems to break an apparent unwritten rule that MMORPG's can't look good.

Those shots are from E3 2003, so that's two years ago, and a year before any of us got to play it. They're definitely made some improvements eh?

It needs to be understood that when you develop a game it's developed in stages and you won't get a totally polished engine in the early stages, a lot of that is added later. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's why you would see something as basic as these screenshots.

No malice intented, just some friendly information from a software programmer.

It's pretty obvious why you wouldn't focus on good looking at the beginning. You need the art done faster so you can use it as a placeholder to test the code. Then you can work more on the art.
