I found most of the people I played with to actually be nice. I was impressed with my first BWE. If the release has people this nice, I'll be a very happy player.

we allowed one of our guildmates to let his little brother into the guild. when he started trying to be obnoxious to opponents in GvG we collectively told him that he needed to knock that crap out or find a new guild.

now if the opponent starts it, that's slightly different...

This was my first BWE and I hardly noticed any rude or obnoxious people.
I was playing in pre-searing for almost the whole time and I only really found nice people, or people who just ignored me completely (Maybe they were AFK?).
I partied up with another newb who was higher level than me, but knew a lot less about the game and he was really nice, and very appreciative of my knowledge.
Another person bought some Silver Dye from me for 20 gold, so I was pretty pleased since I could only sell it for 1 gold at the outfitter.
I spent a lot of my time in a party with a friend of mine and we had a great time roaming the countryside and doing quests.
When I finally entered the Academy neither my team-mate nor my opponents spoke a single word, nor did I. But my team mate did resurrect me when I died just before the end of the PvE section so all in all I thought it was very pleasant.

You could have gotten ALOT more than 20 gp for that silver dye.

This was my first BWE as well. I did run into a couple of jerks. A friend of mine and I were teamed up (both female, one elementalist, one ranger). As we were heading out of Ascalon City some "kid" came up and asked us to shake it for him. I say kid because either he was twelve or never really matured past twelve. We ignored him and kept walking. Being new to the area, we got lost. HE FOLLOWED US AROUND TOWN!! He continued with his lude comments, each one worse than the last. I wish I could have just turned around and put an arrow through his skull.

But that was really the only big problem I had all weekend. I was at one of the "end of the world" parties (Foible's Fair, anyone else?) but when someone asked why I didn't get naked and dance, I told them I really didn't want to and they dropped it. They let me sit there and watch the fireworks, unaware of the horrible death I would soon suffer.

I'm still on my campaign to include some taverns or something where folks could stop by and actually get to know one another. Ascalon is impossible. (Why don't folks use that trade channel?) The chat in other cities/outposts was confined to "r/w looking for party" and the like. Plus it's so hard to chat when the whole area hears everything you say.

And I don't know how folks manage to chat while fighting at all!

There was only one time when I "heard" someone who really intrigued me. "Friends, citizens of Ascalon!" he began, "hear my cry! Join me in smiting the evil that plagues our once fair city!"

"Wow, role playing," I thought and stopped in my tracks to listen.

"Come," he continued, "meet me at the top of this rock!"

Having no clue where this person was or what rock he was referring to, I'm afraid I gave up and went my merry way.

I thought that might be the case, but I was in pre-searing and no one else was asking for Silver Dye. I actually offered it for 10, but he gave me 20

The quickest solution would have been just to change district.

I found that there were basically little to no jerks in the guild hall battles.

This was my 3rd BWE and I mostly played Missions with my Guild-mates. I did try some PvP in Ascalon city our team won about half the time and I did not hear that much trash-talk. Most of the time the other team said "I suck LOL" or something like that when they died. I was on one mission where two players quit half way through but we did not need them . I was a ranger/Monk and healed/rezed the other guy a lot. I told him to stay close to me and I'd get through the mission alive and it all worked out. The most annoying thing was all the new players asking the same question" Where did you get your cape?" But You will have that . I have played CS and COD and hated all the PK but this is way way better.

<my two cents>

Must of been my lucky weekend - I found 6 other PvE'rs and arranged a group for release - Turns out they were also a Guild Leader and all others Officers - so I am set - had great fun in PvE (from LA on maybe that helped)
and also in PvP (Fertile Season was a bit of a pain)

Yeah, I hate Fertile Season.

Spiritofcat, You likely could've gotten 300+ gold for that silver dye.

For me it was sort of a luck of the draw thing. I was in some excellent, well mannered, disciplined groups, and some groups full of gung ho morons who refused to wait for anyone else in the party.

Then there were the healing monks, of all people, that would initiate combat by charging into a mob all alone, usually dying, and wondering why no one would res them. Call me crazy, but aren't monks supposed to stay behind the group and heal or remove hexes, etc...? In most cases we only had one monk, and most people did not carry the res signet with them, so we had to start the mission or quest over. Being a Ranger with a pet, I could not afford the waste of space that I think the signet is, since I already have one less slot than everyone else, due to Charm Animal.

In my experience, most groups don't do ANY exploring, even the good ones, they all seem to want to head directly to whatever the target is as fast as possible. I'd tell them of a couple of chests or a side mission we could do, and they'd say something like, "Don't go that way, the arrow points this way." This frustrated me to no end. But all in all the experience is a good one, even with the ocassional idiot.

This was my first BWE and everybody was nice for the most part, I didn't really run into any jerks. From everything I've read about this game I expected a somewhat civilized, helpful community, and while people were nice, helpful definitely wasn't the case in my experience. I'm not sure if it was because I was in pre-searing the majority of the time, and the majority didn't know the answers to my questions, or if as stated above, people are sick and tired of answering the same questions repeatedly.

Nobody I asked, in several districts, would tell me anything about the academy mission. Nobody would tell me how to get a belt pouch, or what important quests should be done before academy. Nobody would tell me how to ID my items, which yes, is a very repetitive question and doesn't take much investigation on your own, but if you don't know where the merchant(outfitter) is, then it's difficult. When I couldn't figure out where the merchant was, I asked someone, and they said "ok, ill show you", at which point they took me to the blocked door near the town crier in pre-ascalon, stood there for a sec, and said, "brb, bathroom." So I walked around the door, trying to open it and such for a minute or two...finally somebody else told me he was next to the front gate.

I know that people get tired of answering the same stupid questions over and over, especially the ones that you should be able to figure out on your own. I also know that not everyone knows the answers. But I found it a bit disheartening that a simple question could be asked multiple times over a period of time, and not get a single answer.

I always enjoy helping people, especially new people if they have a good attitude. Once I learned a little about the game, I would help anyone that asked a question I knew the answer to. Just because someone asks a stupid or annoying question, doesn't mean that they're not a good person and not worth the time.

I agree. If I would've only known how useful Ctrl and Alt were in town at the beginning, it would've been much easier. The world seems a bit daunting at the start, unsure of where to go or who to talk to for sure. That all leads to unnecessary questions, which alot of the time may get ignored. As I said, it was just a bit disheartening that you couldn't get a simple question answered, to me it seemed like Battle.net in the making all over again. Not nearly as bad, but not exactly what I expected with all of the posts talking about how nice the regulars are, and to look out for them if you need help in the beginning. Almost every regular will get tired of answering certain questions though, so I guess a better tutorial or in-game help of some kind is the only sure solution other than letting players figure things out themselves.

Overall, there were some helpful people, but as I said, I think it was watered down by a bunch of new players that didn't care to help or didn't know the answers.

I'm not sure you can sell silver dye for 300g in green Ascalon, you have to store it for dusty Ascalon or maybe even Lion Arch's to get the full price.

I stayed the most part of last BWE in pre-searing Ascalon helping a friend getting used to the game(was his first time playing). When we were in Ashford Abbey i usualy answered every questions asked.

I didn't see many ill-manered player.. i never seen much in guildwars anyway.
Last BWE was very good and i'm sure we wont see much ill-manered player even when the game is out. They will realise that the majority of player are mature player and very friendly. This will calm them down since they wont fit in the environement.

Best thing is to ignore those immature people spamming stupidities.. all they want is being looked at.

Well I mean GW is a game with excellent players, if you consider a game like Runescape when you talk to the players you tend to get a reply back such as n00b or go away. In general you just got to be a bit more tolerant, everyone i met this BWE was cool, even some of the level 20s they weren't arrogant. When we fought he sometimes stood back to avoid stealing our kills. How much more nicer can you get?

I completely understand the other side, I've done it myself in the E3 For Everyone and the WPE. Basically people have done the mission before, explored around alot but died at the end or something like that. They don't want to explor cause they've already done all that and they just want to get the mission over and done with to get on with things. It's frustrating to have someone wander off to explore.

Not to say you're in the wrong, or that the others are in the wrong either. It's just unfortunate for both parties.
