Finding a good guild
Sofia Sofia Sofia
How do I do it off and on ArenaNet?
Is there a particular site that lists the better guilds and their requirements?

Just spam LFG (looking for guild) in the all channel. hehe.

Any guild that 1) has multiple members logged on at any given time, and 2) works together is a winner in most cases. Heh.

I can give the user names of the 27 guild invites I currently have

Here's the guild listing. It doesn't really tell you a whole lot though.
Also, what is your definition of a good guild? A highly competitive guild who has a ranking--but might force you out of doing PvE missions to come do GvG? A non-competitive guild who is nice to play with in PvE but will never have a Guild Hall or even someone skilled enough to run you to Droknar's if you want?
Nice people? Good players? Rich? High Levels? What are your priorities?
The best way to recruit and/or find a guild is to party with people. If they seem like your playing style, ask them about their guild. Let them know what kind of player you are too. FULL disclosure about what you are looking for and what they are looking for, will help out everyone tremendously.
Good luck.

Go to any arena, especially tombs and see if you can get into a party. After a few fights, they should know who you are and then you can just ask them. They usually accept and in most cases are decent guilds.

Look through the guild lists, visit webpages, see if the guild is organised, if it has the things you are looking for (PvE only/PvP only/mixed; competitive/non-competitive; roleplaying yes/no; mature (age limit) Yes/No; Teamspeak, forums, active members, code of conduct, ranks (if you want them or no ranks if you hate imposed hierarchies) etc....)
When you've found a few that seem good, ensure that they bother screening members. Most good guilds have an application process where they play with you to see if you fit in (for a competitive guild in terms of ability, for a less competitive guild more likely in terms of playstyle/personality)

A lot of finding the right guild is where your progression in the game is, if you just went to presearing or just post seering and respond to the spam you are looking at a guild who just wants members. If you get in a PUG in HOH you are probably looking at a pvp/gvg focused guild. If you can get into a PUG for fissure/underworld runs you are probably looking at a more pve crowd.
If you are looking for a guild that is playing everynight you should DL ventrillo and/or teamspeak and be prepared to log on to the server if invited. The question is how attractive do you want to be as a potential guildmate; most of the power recruitment lies in the hands of the guild.
We get asked nightly for invites but rarely will invite someone. You need to demonstrate compatance in playing, humor, a certian level of maturity and the willingness to help others before we consider anyone. We do not discriminate by class but typically we get asked by two types; the 13 year old Warrior/Monk; and the 30 something professional, typically playing a Monk, Mesmer or Necro.

There is at least one guild that was selling its membership on ebay.

Just make sure the guild suits YOUR availbility and not the other way around, it'll be our little secret.

travel with people as stated above ... don't JUMP on getting into a guild. Enjoy your time off from one, then when you find some people that you really enjoy ... add em to your friends and try to run a few quests daily with them ... inquire about there guild, etc ... take it slow. "Rushers" in all circumstances are usually looked down upon. Just have fun for now.

I was in three pretty poor guilds until I found my home. Changed the whole game experience and have made new friends. Team Speak is the crowning jem. We are an active guild who PvE's and GvG/PvP's. We prefer playing GW the "game" rather than be among the top 100 ranked. All members get to GvG, the rank will come. We help fellow members and often have full parties comprised of only fellow guildies.
Don't feel that simply because you joined a guild you have to stay with them. You'll know when you have found a home. I probably would have started playing BF2 a few weeks ago but still having fun with my friends.
