How do I use symbols in text?
Jagang
I recently saw a guy using regular triangles, upside-down triangles, and all other sorts of symbols in the text on guild wars. How can one do this? He wanted me to pay him 20k for learning how to do it which is absolutely crazy, it should be common knowledge. I know somebody out there knows how.

Cut and paste JP IME from a website/notepad/whatever into the game.

Please do not do this. The trade channels and even public channels are full of this crap because people are trying to make their crappy WTS texts sell out.
I hope this gets patched soon.

People can spam with anything. I'd actually prefer a separator once in a while when I have tons of text rolling by, to use as a reference point.
Also, IME != ASCII. But both can be used in-game. IME gives you cooler stuff like stars, and a music note :0

Can someone give an example of what you would type in the chat line (formatted) to make a symbol?
I've found hexadecimal codes for geometric shapes which I believe are IME but it just shows the numbers I'm typing in.....

╥esting a theory. (used alt+1234)
Althought I too do not know what "IME" is or how to use that one, ASCII is quite simple. Use the Character Map in windows to locate the 'symbol' you want to use. Either use the Character Map function to copy it to the clipboard or look at the code used to generate it (an ALT+xxxx combination). Holding down the ALT key and typing in a 4 digit combination and then releasing the ALT key will generate a symbol.
As examples:
ALT+5858 = Γ
ALT+6543 = Å (Point of Origin Earth)
