ok, watch out for this one.
I had a gold sword that was selling at 35k, i post it in lions arch, someone messages me about it, ***name edited*** was thier name. They ask how much, i say c/o is 35k, they say ok and in the trade window i see 35 plat, so i accept the trade. WHen the trade goes thru i look at my inventory, and it shows that 35 k was no t transfered to my account, i look at the trade info in the text screen and it transfered 35 gold. Now i thought maybe i mis read and accepted, but it showed 35 plat, 35 little silver bars offered, i always check, and i wouldn't of excepted if it wasn't. I dont know if this is some BS hack or something, and really it was a sword i found, yea it would be nice to have the 35 k, but oh well. Just watch out for this person and anything that may happen like this on big ticket items.

Please don't use player names in posts. This is, as Algren Cole stated, in the forum guidelines and is frowned upon.

Does this mean I can scam as many people as *I* want and no one can do anythting about it because we're a society of complacent douchebags who would rather look out for the feelings and rights of assholes then actually contribute to punishing them and stopping the problem?

Dumachum, relevance check. Naming names on a forum doesn't do anyone a whit of good. What -anyone- who is the victim of a scam or griefing or whatever needs to do is take the appropriate screenshots and send notice to the appropriate persons.

These forums are not the place to vent people's names. Get them banned through the right channels. It's not as if we have any power to do that here.

If you can't abide by the forum guidelines here, there are lots of other places you can go and *gasps* name names!

Really now, how would you be able to know for sure after the fact?

My guess is yes, they were a scammer, but you weren't paying nearly as much attention as you claim.

I doubt it's a hack. Maybe you just wern't paying close attention this time and let it slip by? I know some guys try and scam me like that and I just laugh in their face. They always leave once I say, offer 40 plat not 40 gold.

what it means dude is that no one will get accused of diong anything that he/she might now have done ebcause someone is angry at him.

would you want your name all over the boards here for something you did not do?

use your brain as to why names are not alowed here.

i know it might be tough but try

Weezer,

Same thing I told Dumachum. NO ONE is saying to take it easy on scammers and cheats. What we're saying here, on these forums, is we can't do anything about it! While posting a rant about how someone cheated you makes you feel better, it accomplishes nothing.

The guideline exists so that, hopefully, people will use the proper channels and report things to ANet. Gaile has said that they do, indeed, aggressively pursue scammers and cheats. They will never know if things aren't reported to them. That is why reporting to the proper "authorities" is critical.

Several of my guildmates and I have seen this kind of scams from at least 5 different people in Lion Arch and Ascalon. The sad part is that this sort of scams are being practiced by people who are fairly rich (one or 2 are very very rich), based on their other trade/buy spams.

My suggestion for you is adding their account or name to your ignore list. You don't need this kind of business in the future regardless of how rich they are.

*forges screenshots and starts a vendetta against certain players*
*puts up screenshots of offensive behaviour and fails to mention any wrongdoings I did*
*uses screenshots of some people to encorporate others who may not even have been involved*
*takes screenshots completely out of context*
*doesn't even use screenshots but uses only my own word*

Those're most likely why the guru forums don't allow names and blacklists.

How would you like being put on a blacklist when you didn't do anything because you got on the wrong side of the wrong person?

I GIFTED max dmg sword of swordsmanship (~15%+) with around 15%+ double adrenalin on hit and increased deep wound upgrade.

NO SWORD cost 35k.

UK, or is it? *confused*

It can depending on the Hilt and Pommel, and it's Colour of rarity

If it's a Gold Vampiric Fellblade of Fortitude (Req 8, both pre/suffixes maxed) it can exceed even 50k gold, but only if the mod bonus is +14%-15%(20% MAX if HP is under 50%).

On regarding Aniewiel, she is right... If you want to post a bad player, try the Guild Wars support pages. They will try the best they can to stop the problems unless you're offensive to them

Max swords (gold crystaline or whatever with good grip / hilt) can exceed 500k easily. Dont be stupid. 35k is something you pay for a medicore enchantment upgrade.
^^ The above fellblade is 200k if you feel generous

perhaps it's a bug...

consider that when you try to deposit or withdraw an amount higher than what is available it automatically gives you the max available. Perhaps there is a bug with the trade window that doesn't recognize unavailable funds and so he keeps only 35 gold on his person and then offers 35 plat, the 35 gold goes through in place and on the chat log you see the 35 and (he hopes) don't notice it says gold and not plat...

No bug of this kind at all, most likely what happen was get did offer 35K, but changed it to 35g at the last moment, which the guy accepted by mistake.

Always double check before accepting.

I say if naming serves no purpose, then why do you even set a rule to something useless? If it helps to make the victim feel a little better, then by all means let him say it. It would be psychologically healthy for the victim, and also helps everyone here to be more careful when we see the name. Who knows... another person may have traded with this "scammer" on the same day and happen to see this thread, then he could probably confirm whether the scam was true.

Naming names is very important!

Put them on your Ignore list, and then you'll know when they change characters and try to scam you again. It's worth it to me that I know he's known for it now - I won't conduct business in the future.

Scams (of the misdirection type) aren't illegal. There's no proof, no code was broken, no hacks were employed. It's not that we expect you of gwguru to do anything about it - we're looking out for each other in the only way we know how - circulating the names of people to watch out for.

That said, always triple-check your trade right before you hit "accept".

Once upon a time..

Hello all,

Half of this thread is off topic. Let's please stay on the issue of 40 plat somehow turning into 40 gold, instead of debating the validity of the forum guidelines. We have the guidelines for very specific reasons -- some of which Aniewiel has already explained. I'm sorry, but they're not subject to debate. The mods and the admins take their free time to run this site for you, the forum community. Again, you may go to some other fansite and blacklist all you want -- but not on our boards.

Now, back on topic.. to the OP, the best thing that you can do is to bug it and/or send an email to ANet. It might not get you the gold back, but if it *is* a bug or an exploit, it might helps others (and maybe you, in a later trade) down the line.

p.s.. please stay on topic this time. I don't wish to close this thread prematurely for blatant derailing of the topic..
