Hi guys! Im just wandering if you all having the same problem im having in this pass couple of days. Where did the monks go? Every since the post of soloing UW with a monk or a 3 man group going UW of FOW the monks are no where to be found. Im a monk myself but havent assend yet but seeing that America has the favor dont do anything for me anymore. I used to get excited and ask my friends who has the favor and lets run to UW. So i guess for now, try to assend my monk and see how it goes.

give us (monks) farming back so there is some incentive to be a monk when we are not being yelled at by teamates. Some consider it fun... but looking at red bars is seriously not that exciting.

Monk for life! <3

And you can still farm. Even though the drops have been nerfed I can make 2-3 plat per run and each run is like 5 minutes. I farm 'cause I love farming. It's fun! XD Maybe I'm just odd and love my monk that much. I even made a second monk primary and took her to level 20 and ascended... then I deleted her for space. XD

The shortage might be because of the solo UW build. I'm actually using it myself because for a while, I was trying to make a build to solo UW or FoW and was sick of being in stupid parties unable to get past the first mob. All I needed to know was that there was a focus item that gave +1 protection prayers! o-o

There is such a protective icon... south of ascalon settlement.

I never found the +12 energy version in the desert though. Maybe it doesn't exist.

Searching... PM me with a good one

R/Mo

My monk has been at the ring of fire for about 2 weeks now. I don't know if I'll ever pass there or if I want to try again.

Reasons

1. People keep attacking the front gate and dying in 2 seconds even though the cutsceen says to go around. I even travel with another monk and no amount of healing/protection can save people that have a death wish.

2. Making a teams. People get pissed when I won't do the mission when they have 3W 3R and expect the team to work. I like a balanced team. 2 of a class at most. Yeah Warriors and Eles are great but I actually LIKE to have mesmers, Necros and Rangers on the team also. I know I'm stupid like that.

3. If the team loses people are quick to bitch and leave the team. Why not discuss what you can do differently and try again?

4. I have done all the missions on a different character and it was not a joyride. I am not in a hurry to do it again.

I'm not trying to start another monk flame. These are truthfully the reasons through my eyes. Sorry for the negativity.

I have no problem with the above, except #1...
the front door is actually easier than the back path..
you just need a couple of intelligent teammates.
2 friends and I busted down the front door with the rest
of the team consisting of henchmen... yeah.. the henchies
died a few times.. but if you know what you are doing,
its possible to get them back up safely.

where as the back path... is complete suicide.. unless you have a team of 100% humans who know exactly what they are doing. henchmen burn to death too easily.

Yes there is. Check the desert collectors map that is loacted on this site. There is a +12 energy one (20/20) and a +12 +15 +30 HP one.

I like unusual teams more. I'd rather do a mission with a whole pile of rangers than a "balanced" team, it makes it more fun, and you can skill-set to match it. Some of my favorite missions were the ones I ran in groups with no tank, or no monk, or all ranger, or with 3 mesmers in the party, or a bunch of necromancers. It can be much more enjoyable, especially if peaople are willing to adapt a little - if the warrior /Elementalist will cooperate by using a physical damage weapon the mark of pain works better, if the group knows to stay out of aggro bubble range the tank can cluster enemies better, etc.....

Well, I finished the game with my monk, and I'm just recovering from the stupid ending. Give me some time, and I'll toss him back in there.

I don't think that exists. You only need the +1 until you get a lvl17 Protective Bond, at which point you should switch to a Smiting Staff/Wand/Focus, anyway.

I have found the front gate to be easier because you have no room to manoeuvre. When I went the roundabout way the team became trapped in a narrow passage and the casters were quickly killed.

The problem is that many people know only one way to play. They don't make adjustments depending on the who's on the team. A ranger is less effective when he doesn't have time to set his traps and find the best position. A mesmer is less effective when the enemies have already casted their spells on a charging warrior. When your plan of battle consists of a series of bonsai charges, your only chance of succeeding is to have many warriors and many monks. And that's the lesson people are drawing, unfortunately.

Methinks it's better that they quickly leave, for you know what they'd say: See I told you! We needed another tank/monk!

Agreed. My group did the front door in one try with no deaths.
