Is there a way to get to lvl 10+ in the pre-searing?

Exactly what I'm doing. I knew AT BEST I'd get maybe one more level from quests at that point. Judas is right. XP from killing is based solely on level whereas quests are not. If you do quests first then kill stuff, you are limited to level 16, period. If you kill stuff then do quests, you are levelled out at 16 plus some points.

I'm just doing it for kicks and because I can. It's also kinda nice to go back and just run around shooting stuff with a different character after I get frustrated dying so much in post-sear. By the time I level out (or get completely bored), I'll be that much closer to my next level anyway.

the thing you've got to understand is its harder to level when you start killing monsters that are lower than your level, 'cos you get less XP - if you've got the patience tho', then go for it.

My advice, as I've wasted a bit of my time doing this, is that it is no longer worth it. Sure you can get a bunch of runes from killing Charr, but they are pretty much worthless now (you can't even use them in pre-searing). Anyway, pull the first few groups of Charr back towards the entrance to the gate. There is a healer there who will keep you healed while you kill the charr. I've taken all the charr out at the "temple" area a few times. It's time consuming, but just have a longbow equipped and pull as few as possible. I was a W/R playing with a guy who was a W/E. I also had a pet, so I had an advantage there.

Basically it takes too long to increase your levels once you get up to level 9+ and you definitely start running out of inventory room to keep all your good drops.

I've sold six to the trader in Ascalon so far since release. Funny thing is, I found all of them in pre-searing -- never found one post...

And they weren't always as valuable as they are now, that's for sure. I really wish I had held onto the first three or four I found..

On-topic: I always seem to be about lvl11-12 when I get done with pre-searing. The only goal I ever really set for myself is just to finish all the quests.. by that time I'm usually well bored with the newbie sights and smells, and can't wait to get on with things.

Will be cool to see how far you can go with your experiment, Inez! Be sure to take pictures

I was going to level like mad pre-searing, but it's such a pain finding someone to go kill Charr with that I just gave up. On the plus side, I had the easiest time in the academy as a lvl 10 Wa/Me with all the gear from slaughtered Charr. Those poor lvl 3s never stood a chance

Yeah, I just went thru the academy with my latest character. My team was up against a team with a lvl 14 W/ something(I forget) player on it. It was a joke. We were slaughtered.

I can't imagine staying in pre-searing long enough to be that high level. It was pushing my boredom button pretty hard just to get my character to lvl 8 pre-sear.

I have a lvl 12 Warrior in Pre-Searing, with the collector's armor dyed a mix of Black and Silver. It gets boring though, and I think I'm going to delete the character soon, it only takes space, and unless you're lvl 17, it's not cool enough anyway.. Maybe it sounds cool at the beginning, but I'm sure you wont get higher then lvl 14
