Kind of bland?
sino-soviet
Do you guys get the impression that Guild Wars is seriously lacking in variety among characters and items and such? I don't know how important this may be to some other people, but I really do think that some changes in sprites among NPC's and items would go a long way. Any thoughts?

It's only beta. Judge it when it is actually released.

I suppose it depends on what you're used to.
I really like it.

if bland= balance, then id rather have bland then the uber items in some of the other games that you can only use when your level 2 million.

You have to remember that the players in the PvP arena did not have ALL of the armors in the game. I do understand that through much of the game the players all seem like virtual clones, but it wont always be that way. Remember we have only seen a portion of the game, and we are familiar with only a small percentage of that portion.

I really like GW, and have pre-paid for the CE... but if I have to wish for something it would be for a larger pool of weapons and armor, and ways to customize them both. I understand that AN is holding back so they have somewhere to go with the expansions, but that is something I hope to see. I hope that at some time they include armor drops so they can make rare armor that crafters cant make, something like that would be cool.

During my very limited beta experience, I felt that a bit more variety in at least the look of items would be nice. I realise however, that there was a lot of stuff I didn't see, as I only went through the Academy right near the end of the weekend and once in post-searing Ascalon I found a crafter with all different types of armour and stuff.

Wait on release but I think that the newer and unique items will come. The gane is going to be good and if this game is not for you there are several others coming along this year. I still beleive that this game will help change how other games are developed. Good job Guild Wars.

Didnt he mean new graphics, not items?
sino-soviet
Yes, I meant new GRAPHICS for the NPC's and items. and I love the game overall, but as I said new sprites would give it spice. The item COUNT I have absolutely no problem with.
kaya
well.. i'm gonna add my voice to the few who say that it'd be great if there were more items and a little more randomness in them. imo the greatest thing in a game like diablo 2 was the fact that there were tonz of great items, and they still put in the effort to randomize the stats for every different drop. that would be killer.
but as was mentioned we've only played the beta. We'll see what happens at release.
Kudos
