found it a little unfair or just plain dumb that depending on what store you go to the diffrent item you will get( the !exclusive! preorder item that you get). Me and my friends had all of our classes thought about to make a good group and we thought that the items we get will specify to the class we choose, but then to find out its the store you go to it really made us mad. If your going to do that at least make it so that the item will work with every class.

the item will work but at its base stats

an elementalist can use the bow or warpick for example

as noted above these will have to be nice to have starter items but will not be super uber game balance breaking items

EDIT

besides what happens if you know you WILL be a ranger so you get the bow and you turn out liking the mesmer or another class much better?

so much fot having the bow

I see this being a big problem for people that didnt know anything about, if I buy from here I get this, if I buy from there I get that. What if one place they wanted to buy from was sold out? The devs should simply allow you to choose your special item for the first character you 'reactivate' and go from there. We all that have played will know this item won't be godly, but you also have to understand that it is the principal for some people. I hope we can get an official response to this.

An different option would allow you to "Uncustomize" your weapons and armor that way you could trade them with your Guild-mates or anybody when you find better stuff. I would mean that you can get a much higher price to. As Customized armor can only be sold the the outfitter. Or am I wrong on this??

if you could uncustomize it that would open up the problem of the long established guild with a warehouse of top equipment telling a good new player

join us and get a shortcut to the best equipment in the game-give us 5 minutes and save weeks of that stupid pve farminh

after you are equipped we will run you through the skill WE need and you are set

my opinion is it woult completely short what GW is trying to do

it is non transferable for the specific purpose of no hand me down period

You're right, but that's exactly why they Don't let you uncustomize. Think of how FFXI and DiabloII turned out. Everyone is saving up huge amounts of cash/gold/gil whatever so that they can trade and buy the best armor sets. GW is supposed to be based around player skill NOT around the level of your character or what gear they have on. By making armor specific to your character it prevents people from spending all their time trying to make a kick ass character. It's like they always say, you shouldn't be preparing to have fun, you should be having it.

First off we don't have the items yet.

Second off there is a possiblity it may not matter where you bought the game irrespective of the marketing info.

Third, you might be able to influence that possiblity by making a stink with arena.net via www.guildwars.com and the [email protected] link using your story. I'd strongly suggest well done "embellishments" if you do.

Don't give up before it happens! hehehe

They're not going to change what they give you because of a sob story. The items were clearly listed.

Clearly described and assuming alot of stuff they won't do doesn't make it so until we have registered for play at the game release. I for one know that sometimes, you can make that difference. I've done it with much harder situations and it is far better to not give up and make an effort than be disappointed about the loss you don't even know has occured.

Pardon me for being encouraging and not discouraging to the poster of the thread.

*Edit* If nothing else they might come up with a way that we can exchange it for a different one of these items with a particular crafter after the fact based on more than one or a few people indicating this was troublesome for them.

And yes of course they might do nothing but until that is the case, why give up?

Yes, everyone has a choice about which preorder item to get, because:

1) Everyone has physical access to every store listed in the preorder guide, this making it merely a choice of which store to visit.
2) It was well known how preorder items would work, making it straightforward to choose which one you wanted.
3) All of the preorder items were known and available back at the time of the first BWE.
4) They aren't dividing up preorder bonuses by continent. Everyone, whether in the Americas, Europe, or Australia, has easy access to the bonus items of their choice. Hell, if it's a big deal they could just walk into another store now and get a cheap preorder package.

Or not.

Peace,

The biggest Problem is that you would have to change your e-mail and set up a new account. I am a guild leader so that would mess up my guild. I would have to invite myself to my own guild and then I would not be the leader any more but on the other accound I would. I do not want to try it out of fear of confusing too many people . Also to say what all of people before have said I do not belive the "special items" will be worth all the hassel as you will most likely find better stuff afier playing for an hour or two.

That's exactly what I did Ensign! hehehe

Fry's pre-order just gives, well, a 10 dollar discount when you come back with the receipt for buying them. You didn't really pre-order, you just bought the pre-order box and game. I was told by Fry's flunkie staff that O would get no item just the discount. Anyway, this was before the CE was announced.

Well there's an eb games within 100 feet of my house. Now I got the ithas bow on order, so to speak. All that is aforesaid so accurate, I tend to believe their might be some kinda exchange system if more than 3 people were to say something (Arbritray number of humour pursuant to the "everything happens in 3s" old expression.). Obviously it is probably a higher number. Geez!

*Edit* It is in light of the mutiple key registration discussed by Gaile Gray here at post number 14 that i am thinking there might be a way worked out once we all register and the item we get is certainly known. I am not nieve enough to believe that only a handful of people thought out the game such as the poster did. Idealistic maybe, yet it seems Arena.net does listen to the suggestion threads and that obviously extends to their customers so it appears we actually are important to them.

Hmm... clearly listed is debateable... there is zero information on the outside of the 'Pre order package' on what items will be available if you buy this box from here.

Your going to tell me that someone walking into a gamestore that saw this box is going to know which item he's going to get with his pre-order purchase? Then what he finds out later and your going to make that person go out and order from a different store because he didn't know BEFORE buying which special item was available?

sob story is irrelevant here, Ncsoft / Arena is beggin for quite a few 'after the fact' contacts' on why they were not informed of what item they would be getting before purchasing.
