use the crystal thingy and the mines for aggro managment, is the advice of a prot monk.
enemies always target the carrier. abuse this to your dirtiest fantasies. and bring a monk with life bond and balt spirit or just essence bond.
elona is fun: with the right protection you can gather several groups and kill em all at once real fast. i am talking about mass destruction here.

Still trying ?
I can maybe help, I solo the 1st two crystals with my Paladin.
The rest of the group makes a dance party.
The 3rd crystal is easy with a group who can listen (classes are unimportant).
You will have about 17-19 minutes left after we are done.

ahh, if I am borred, and no guildmember is on, I go to Elona and run some frustrated players through the mission...
Finished the game 4 times + have all the 15K armor and stuff, do not like PvP (just the idea is odd), but I still like to play the game
- so: nothing more to do then playing some missions again, helping guildmembers level.
Maybe I learn to make forge runs, havent tried that.

The key to Elona is going the back way..get to the second shard or crystal or whatever its called by going through a little passageway between the 2 areas..this will avoid 95% of the groups you would otherwise have to kill(good luck with doing that)..Completed this mission in 1 try once I knew that passageway was there. Had about 10 minutes to spare.
Hope this helps,
P.S. When fighting any groups, DROP THE SHARD/CRYSTAL! The monsters go after whomever has that hard core. Drop it and then fight and you will have an easier time of it.

My advice is to pay a runner 1k to do it for you if you have failed to do it yourself so many times.

I just want to say that I tried Elona Reach 9 (nine) times and finally get passed in a day using my ele. One guy I was with for 5 times quit finally and payed someone to run the mission. I, however, continued because I refuse to pay someone for a mission/quest. I want to thank my guild mates for helping me.

Personal opinion, I hate runners (I can understand why they exist, people are lazy, but I hate them
). That said, if you've failed Elona that many times, obviously there is something horrendously wrong with your strategy or your build or you have enormous bad luck at getting a group. Getting run through the mission won't solve this problem (except maybe the luck part) and you'll continue to have problems further in the game. Figure out why you're having such difficulty, hell Elona is one of the easier missions, solve the problem and get past the mission.

Just finished it myself for the first time. Don't get into a half-assed group! We had 5 guys + Alesia and made it easily, because nobody rushed, nobody drew penises on the minimap and everyone followed target-calling. My previous attempts had been laughable at best, with people aggroing arcanists left and right.
Other minor thing: I found maelstrom extremely useful against the sages/bosses, even with 0 water magic. Cast it right away, and then throw everything your group has at the enemy. It interrupts healing and other spells for 10 seconds.

I (W/Me) did it with 4 henches.
Gedsho is right on the money. I specced my warrior for defence, and made sure I was always carrying something (it doesn't have to be crystals, you get as much hate if you carry a mine). Every enemy attacked me, no-one ever attacked the henches, so they had free fire while I just huddled up and spammed healing & protection (plus Alesia could concentrate on me, which she usually did when she wasnt busy tanking). As I'm a mesmer I also put backfire on the enemy spellcasters, and empathy on the melee guys.
It almost felt like an exploit. OK, it DID feel like an exploit. But it works.

i did this with all henchies and i'm also a ranger/mesmer. these are the henchmen i took: brawler, fighter, healer, archer, mage. if you want you can replace the mage with lina the protector. but i really didn't beause i frankly didn't see her :x the skills i used were basically conjure phantasm, dodge, power shot, storm chaser, troll urgent, empathy, phantom pain, and resurrect signet.
the beginning is quite easy.
every splinter? thing you see just disarm it. you disarm it by clicking on it and drop the splinter down somewhere and run. mostly the henchies will follow you when you do this so just rest till the party is okay.
don't bother killing off the two minotaurs that are in front of you. just go to the right and wait a little till the minotaur from the top comes down and then you kill it, don't go to it else you'll aggro off those snake/dragon in the ground things. if you plan to do bonus(i didn't do the bonus because i just wanted to ascend...cause you can take your time with bonus after the mission is completed):after killing the minotaur, go kill those snake/dragons in the ground. there should be a splinter thing in your way, just disarm that before fighting them. after killing those two just go up to this circle thing with the crystal and the bone guy should res up. that's 1/3 of bonus complete.
after resing the guy on back down, a group of 3-4 minotuars should be in the center. from the rightside just pull off one minotaur at a time. more minotaurs will come and go. you should kill at least 6 or so. then still on the right go up to the bridge. kill the snake/dragon thing in your way. cross the bridge, disarm the splinter. kill the snkae/dragon thing. if the minotaur below sees you just kill it off. usually there would be two, depending on how many you kill off in the first minotaur group. there's also a snake/dragon thing in the middle of the hill top. you can kill it off forfun or exp.
after that talk to the ghost. a clock will appear. 30 minutes.
go to the left exit. there should be a group of anarachist? 3 of them, kill them off. then keep heading in that direction. there is a group with a boss to your very left, you don't need to kill them just pass them up. kill and disarm any splinters in your way. this shouldn't be hard. grab the crystal. this should take about 9 minutes or so. i just dodged and sotrm chased my way back to the ghost on the hill.
after giving the ghost the second crystal, i went back to the left exit. went straight and there's this "secret passage" were i go. basically its where the bonus bone ritual circle thing is. you could go the bridge way or the way around. i chose the bridge. disarm the splinter at the bridge. rest up. cross to the middle. now i had to wait at this part because right at the end of the bridge there was a group with a splinter and behind them was a walking group. i just kill off the group at the end of the bridge when the walking group behind it pst by. try to hurry up and kill the group, disarm the splinter. sometimes the walking group gets aggroed. just kill them off. then keep a little to the left. there should be a group to your right and left. just walk int he middle and you won't aggro either. kill the 2 groups near the crystal. grab the crystal and go back the way you came. dodge and storm chase over there. while doing that you will activate the bonus. 2/3 is done.
i relaly don't know the 3rd circle area. i forgot to mention that the third circle or actually the second one is at the second crystal. all of it is near by. if you want you can go back to it. after you grab the last crystal a gate will unlock a monsters will come out. just dodge and storm chase them. don't be funny and try to save your henchmen..just let them die. lol. well you just run back tot he ghost hero and then mission complete.
all done in like 20 minutes...

I also did this in 20 minutes with Henchies with my R/N.
Getting through the minotaurs is easy. There's a path where you'd only have to face 2 minotaurs and 3 dune burrowers, max. Although, I say kill all the minotaurs anyway, since if they aggro during the cutscene...you'll either die, or get yourself in a bad position (since you're turned away from them). Or skip, then kill the minotaurs.
Anyway, take your time there, there is no time limit yet.
When you talk to the Ghostly Hero and he opens the gates, I found out to just take the right gate path first. It's harder, and there's "more" bad guys. That means, you'll know how much time you have to spare doing the other side. I killed all mobs in the shard area...because from the other two times I ran the mission, mobs have a damned way of getting in the way with a shard in your hands. Kill that boss (and thank Lina and Alesia), and run back. I had Storm Chaser, so it was a nice fast run.
Go through the other gate, and pull each mob separately, when you're near the outpost. This is majorly important because there's two mobs, and they're both full of casters, so while your R/Me is stuck not being able to hit one mob...TWO mobs are hitting you. Not to mention the boss sitting near them. So, equip a longbow and pull a mob, and only ONE.
You can actually skip that boss fight there. Then, it's all a matter of killing groups until you kill the boss, and run as fast as you can back to the Ghostly Hero base. I actually died right before the cutscene...but I still "did it" anyway. Only thing I need there now is bonus....which I was too lazy to do.
