I did this one last night with henchmen only. It really isn't all that difficult, because the White Mantle patrols all seem to be rubber-banded to the watchtowers. That means you can run up, smack a DoT spell on someone, and then run away without the whole herd chasing you. Lather, rinse, repeat, and eventually the herd will be thin enough to just go in and mop up. Occasionally, you can peel off a few knights who will chase you, but as soon as they are far enough away from the rest, you can turn on them and finish them off pretty quickly.
It does take some patience and timing (as well as being fleet of foot when needed), and spells like Rotting Flesh probably made it especially easy (since you cast it on one unlucky schmoe and he spreads it to everyone else, making the mop up really easy).

Now that weird. I did RP for the first time and because it said don't get noticed I avoided all the white mantle, got the scepter and was almost out without a fight and very near the end (save for some undead) when I ran into a large undead group I blundered into while trying to avoid some white mantle. Live and learn.

The bonus is basically to wipe out every last one of the White Mantle Watchtowers. It's kinda a hassle since taking down ALL the towers -especially the last group of them, the ones after the temple- takes a good bit of time, patience, and coordination. Of course as with all missions it's not so bad if you have a decent group. Like I said, it just takes time.

In my neverending summer boredom, ive decided to solo all the pve missions with my wa/mo (lvl 16 atm). Not the hardest thing for this, i just ran through the whole thing. Got lucky once (1 hp) but more liberal use of skills would have seen me fine. Sprint for the win! Of course, no xp cept the 1000 standard, but it gets it done.
If your still stuck i can give it another go with you on board, ign: Ooo O Ooo O Oo O Oo
It takes approx 15 minutes.

If you do the bonus, that means when that group comes after you, you already cleared out the towers by the end so its pretty much clear all the way right? Or is the bonus something you gotta do by killing off the first couple of towers, get the staff and then kill off the other towers? I have yet to do the bonus... probably will soon though, just curious.

I've done the bonus with both characters that have gotten this far, and both times we killed all the towers before going to fetch the scepter. Makes for a very, very easy run to safety, and it's kinda funny during the cutscene when the mantle chump is bragging about how the towers will slow/kill us. WE GOT INTO UR BASE AND KILLED UR DOODZ, DOOD.
haha... I found it funny... and upsetting that during those sequences, I got KILLED and was dead as soon as the first sequence ended cause some guy was hitting me in the back the whole time...
But then at the last sequence after we got across the bridge, one of the mantel made it across and beat the hell out of our leader's back as we stood there calmly talking LOL
Definatly gonna have to do that mission again and KILL EVERYTHING!
