I'm not up to date on my Air Staves, but the only glaring negative I see is the high req, and low head.

honestly, collectors stuff is best. i'd say 8k or so for this, only cause its gold.

The reason some prefer a staff is for the added energy if you add an insightful head, and health from a wrapping. The recharge/cast is also for ALL skills, not just air magic, which is another + for staves.
