My Few Experiences with Support

Wow, I must say that I am very impressed with the tech support help through Guild Wars. First I suppose I should explain. Recently I built a new computer, Guild Wars ran smoother than ever, but suddenly, everything froze, I was stunned and furious. I couldn't figure out why my game started to freeze, so much so that it hacked my gameplay and made it impossible to play outside of districts. Even after awhile it started to freeze there too.

After consulting GW support, nothing, I didn't have the information needed for them to help me. I should point it out that my dad built the computer, I just got the new parts, but as far as all of my drivers and such, I couldn't do anything as far as finding where to get them. So, I confronted my dad. We updated my chipset for the motherboard and so I thought the video drivers too. This machine was starting to give me pain.

Well after that, this problem seemed resolved, until on a whim I changed resolutions from 800x600 [For my viewing ease, not being able to see well is rather annoying, ne?], to 1024x768. I hadn't really tested out Guild Wars after the resolution change until not long ago when I started to play Iron Mines of Malodune. Nothing seemed to happen, however partially through, it froze, not as violently, the mouse could still move at least but just the same, the same signs. I thought I would run my usual tests then. Running various situations with the game, window mode, with a friend, on teamspeak. I never made it that far. After a day or so ago playing for over two hours without a problem, I log in yesterday, lo and behold the game freezes not far into IMoM. Still running that mission. At a loss I confront my dad again. He's the hardware whiz in this family.

Well, after finally finding DxDiag, I finally got a full diagnostic file of everything needed for this problem. I emailed support since we were at a loss. The reply was swift and very detailed on one way to fix it.

Mind you I haven't yet had the chance to go through with this, but so far I am pleasantly pleased. At first I thought there was merely going to be a question about the game performance, but there below a little question was a rather long explanation on how to update my video drivers, though that needn't be done, and how to uninstall, fully, old video drivers that might conflict with them.

Up to this point I haven't had much to send to support that I could get feedback on. My lacking attempt at help on this before was due to ignorance on my part. I'm rather pleased and I do hope this will fix these problems.

I've never seen such good support, or quick, for that matter, in any game whatsoever. With the right tools you can help them to help you brilliantly. Oddly enough I found the DxDiag later on one of the support questions about crashing. Funny how you don't pay attention to certain things then find out how helpful it could have been at the time.

Anyway, I wanted to put this here, though its alot of the situation thusfar, to share at least one small, or well getting there situation with the GW Support. I've seen alot of complaints about it over recent days, but as I think about it, it's hard to help someone if they don't know specifics of a problem. If its something else, there may be no reason to really reply back, depending on what it is, and harrassment issue, you won't hear anything about it, your ticket will close, however I'm certain the issue will still be handled under a different ticket number just the same.

So, anyone who might be feeling a little annoyed with the support, just try and help them as clearly as you can with a problem, be it tech, reporting something like an error or bug, or whatever. Be clear, to the point, and attach whatever information you can to your question to help them get a good grasp of the problem.

I'm Pleased with support too, Once every time I attempted to equip something or move something or salvage/ID


Then I e-mailed support with the specs etc. on my comp and they fixed me right up ^^
