Really, Gwen is a little girl. She isnt 30 years old.

Her father died and she really liked him, so she decided to hang out with adventurers like her father was.

I brought her back her broken flute, bought her a new one later, gave her a ton of flowers, bought her the cape, didn't let her tag along because it was too dangerous for her. I treated her like a queen! And what happens?

She repaid me with fire and brimstone.

The march BWE ending had nothing to do with the story.

The broken flute is
1) the symbol of her lost childhood after her father died
2) the symbol of the brokeness of humanity (foreshadowing of the fall/searing of Ascalon)
or the most likely
3) the symbol of her manhood lost in WWI (See Jake in The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hamingway)

Or Gwen could be the devils right hand person and has gotten a new flute and is using it as her butchering tool. Thats my theory and I'm sticking with it and the perv guard theory thats a good one too.

Gwen is the Ultimate evil she only looks like a little girl. When she talks about “her father” she mean a murderous daemon the was banished long long ago. You see nobody know this because it was so long a go but Ascalon city was built on the site of an epic battle between and all-powerful daemon and a righteous monk. The monk knew his could never kill the daemon so trapped it in a magical flute. He now is doomed to travel the world forever with the flute. Guarding it with his life so it can never fall it to evil's hands. THAT is the Flute the Gwen wants. And she MUST never get it or that little taste of her power last March will be nothing compared to what she is really capable of. <<shutters>>

I'm sorry to say that this is pretty much a spam thread that has been going in every possible direction without much content whatsoever. I've let it go this far in hopes of some sort of in-depth discussion, but well, there's only so many times you can say "I hate Gwen!" "She's scary!" or "Let her roast!"
