I think that it's pretty preposterous that we can't play on the Korean servers. I've been learning Korean for awhile and I would really like the opportunity to use my knowledge of it on something other than a low scale, 2d game.
I think not allowing Korean server changes also builds up a lot of racial tension. For one thing, it makes people hate it when Korea gets the favor because they can't share in the favor; like they could if Europe had it. It also gives the idea that you would find less English speaking people on the Korean servers than the European; not true, all Korea schools today teach English while it is seen as secular in most European countries. This may also give people the idea that Koreans aren't in the same "plain" as Europeans and Americans.
Why not a Korean server change option??

Korea would rank in the top 10 most influential places in the world.
The United State's most friendly countries might even be summed up in the order of: England, Isreal, Japan, Italy, South Korea. With North Korea being Around the same range or higher with least friendly.
Sure, alot of people would go there and speak English, but do you think there is absolute silence of the English language in the Spanish Districts?

i think you can only change to korean server if you set your client to korean language first...
after doing so the option to join the korean server should be unlocked.

I agree for full openness to have access to all 3 servers.
Anet probable did it to cut down on support complaints for people that get stuck there who can't speak Korean. Where if you get stuck on Europe you can still do well with less language barrier problems.
I suspect they access to all there since most Korean’s speak English. Anet problem aligned the server choices based on if you get stuck, can you function on some language level.

The international district can be used for that. Since I've seen Koreans in the international district alot, I'm pretty sure that Japanese people will get the same.

The Korean Coke promotional items are not "overpowered" or "uber." They are simply different. I appreciate that some non-Korean players would like to have those items, but I know Korean players would have enjoyed the US or European preorder items. There will be other promotions like this in the future, and having some small differences in availability of items is just a reality of the global nature of Guild Wars. I hope that it won't be seen as a problem or an area of concern by anyone, for it truly should not be seen that way at all.

Just a little annoyance about the international districts. I cant stick to them. Everytime i move (or log out/in i dont know for sure) im back in my home district. It would be nice to stay in the international districts!

We have Cyber cafe's in the UK, and Im sure they exist elsewhere, why didnt you feel it nessasary to standardise the payment methods?
With your uber streaming technology, surly you could standardise all this.
I agree with the author of the thread, I dont think its devisive, but yea.. I really would love to play with Koreans, well actually I'm learning Japanese and was hoping to game with them once its released.

Being Korean, I've been there, and LAN Cafes are equivalent to clubs in the US. People go there to hang out with friends, eat, play games, and yes, meet girls. People who watched the Korean GW tournament during the BWEs noticed that the teams were almost all co-ed, and it's true - girls there game almost as much as guys do.
A GameSpy article on Korea mentioned that at cafes, there are often pairs of computers with a loveseat for couples to game together - it's true. The same article cited Lineage raids being cafe v. cafe, with a commander standing on a table yelling orders - it's true [and awesome to witness].
In conclusion, Korea is the ugly duckling - it gets special priveleges because it's just so radically different when it comes to its attitude on PC gaming. The culture there practically revolves around their "PC bahngs," or LAN cafes. The companies can go through the hassle of setting up two different payment systems and still profit, something you couldn't do in most other countries.

Koreans may speak english, but isn't it selfish to go to their servers and suddenly speak in a foreign language? I don't think it would be very well-received if suddenly a lot of people started speaking french in the US districts. I don't think it really matters wether or not they speak english, it's their district, so it's their language you would be expected to speak.

I think the Korean ID number is also an issue. For any online game or service in Korea, you have to have a Korean ID number. Each of your forum accounts, game accounts, etc is tied to this, and the system makes sure 1 person only gets one account in each service -- it's a bit of a Big Brother thing so that your online history is trackable.
It also ensures that foriegners don't get into most of the online games while living in Korea (grrrr, why can't I try Lineage or MU, why am I reduced to using my girlfriend's ID to sign up for anything, grrr). Guild Wars was the first game I found that allowed me to play on American servers while in Korea, and not pay any monthly fee.

and the huge amount of swearing they spam to you when you don't buy their stuff. I don't see the big deal about going to Korean districts. If you're Korean and not in Korea, then sure, but the International Districts work fine for me.
