Can You Solo Hydras?
Kaylee Ann
You might be able to prevent one, but you won't be able to prevent all of them from doing it. Obsidian flesh and spell breaker are the 2 easiest ways to prevent them from casting everything but inferno, because they need a target to cast off of.

Not a problem with my Monk more the better. BTW can now solo all the Coldfires in the underwold.

Without really tweaking my build my mesmer could deal with the incoming damage fine by shutting down the spells. Couldn't kill them so much (lacking in offense), but I could see how you could walk onthem if you carried a few nuking spells and cry of frustration, power leak, power spike. So often they'll all start casting at once, so a cry of frustration stops 2-3 meteor/fireballs, then you can powerleak/spike the next spells down. I imagine any /Mes build with room for 3 interrupts can pretty much demolish them, they're a little helpless if you negate the opening attacks.

Some people have said to use balanced stance as a warrior. I haven't tried yet, but how many hydras can you farm at a time? I used to farm them one or two at a time without balanced stance. One is very easy, I can just absorb all the knockdown and damage, but 2 was a pain. The biggest problem I had was that their intial spells hit so hard.

6 or more Hydras. When it come to griffons all them. Same thing in the under world 6 aaxes works also better then 1.

Does anyone get decent drops off of these guys? Hell, three heads, they should drop three items. ^_^ I've gotten a handy Gold Axe off these bastards, and some serious coin. But I'm curious, do they drop better things than other mobs?

Hm...I couldn't farm hydras when I tried, but that was before I had demonic flesh. Perhaps that and life transfer will save me next time around.

Too bad i dont have a monk, or i could tank at least 10 just using mending
I have a warrior, so i dont have spell breaker, and i cant get obisdian flesh without loosing /mo skills ... . And the worst part ... i cant get 17 protection
Oh well, will try it anyway next weekend. Whats the record for the ember run? Amount of hydras / time - post it here...

I just wait until they all bunch up, and then kill however many there are. I think there's at least 30+ when they all bunch up.

So I'm waiting for the patrol to pass, looking at the hydras walk by. All of a sudden, two stop. Move around like they're casting something. I say to myself, "oh s***, we aggroed them!" So I look to my minimap hastily... the hydras are a safe distance OUT OF MY AGGRO CIRCLE. Maybe hydras have a longer range or something that I don't know about, but I've never had a pack of monsters attack without being in my aggro circle unless I've provoked them from afar.
So next thing I know, I've got 4 hydras spraying fire everywhere. Stefan decides to attack and pulls in 4 more. I'm thinking, "Yeah, time to get Echo with guildies now, I'm toast." I decide to start fighting (I was still stunned that they aggroed outside the circle) and I notice that the henchmen are creaming all of the hydras. 10 seconds later, there are 8 dead hydras and everyone on my team is still alive.
Those Ember Light Camp hydras are definitely the toughest and pack a punch, but when eight of them get soloed by a henchmen group, it's pretty funny to see people coming into ELC saying "god, those hydras are impossible!"

ember light hydras drop garbage.
All hydras drop garbage. You'd think a big freaking dragon that spits fire would drop something decent when you kill it.
Stupid bots, ruin everything for us >P

i solo some things i like to call mango hydras, spell breaker+zealots fire helps
Sunrazor
I solo them with a Necromancer. I just run around and let Life Transfer and Life Siphon and Vampriric Gaze suck away their health. As long as I'm running I'm fine.

mahgo hydras are actually fairly easy if you keep moving. when you see meteor storm pop up, you know it's time to move. and when you see phoenix, back off a bit so you don't get hit by the initial splash damage. besides that, it's all about bashing their heads in before they can bash in yours.
