Anything said in the public chat channel that includes "wts" or "wtb" should be automatically sent to the trade channel.
Yes, on some very rare occasions you might want to say wtb or wts in the public channel for a reason other than selling. But not often, and that miniscule amount of inconvenience would be worth it. This modification would take almost no overhead and could easily be done entirely on the client side. And it’d keep the public chat channel clear of those amazing offers for purple 13-20 swords for only 10k.

id rather have a custom chat filter were you can choose to have it replace words with words of your choices.
example if you specified WTS to read Selling: it would replace every instance of WTS with Selling: or any other word you could choose what you see

i agree, trying to sell at Lions arch is a dumb idea since everyone spams "wts" in every channal... i agree with getting rid of the whole "wts" in normal chat, people really need to learn how to use the trade channal.. seriously...

theres no way to stop them from trying to sell in any channel if they made a filter for WTS/WTB/WTT then they would ahve to include Buying Selling Trading then if i wanted to trade i would jsut say the item and then a price

my 90 day ban was a joke, but hints at the disgust I have for WTS in All chat...a key to stopping this is to not buy from anyone that uses All to sell, even if they are using Trade

Sometimes, I sit in town when I have nothing better to do. When people try to sell things in the common channel, I politely ask them to use the trade channel. Most of the time, I get responses from people with the intelligence of a small dog. "I can sell wherever I want!" (Although without all the correct spelling and such) or just "You're a <insert stupid insult>!!!!!!".

But yes, I agree that all trade should be done in the trade channel (and nothing else) ... but thats like saying I want the game to be free of noobs , its never going to happen.

Or we could set up an item linking system and only allow people to link items in trade. It doesn't help 100% but it makes a dramatic difference.

Except that NOBODY uses the trade channel, and when people who "forgot to switch to the trade channel" are asked to use the trade channel they respond with, "STUF NOOB!"
I suggested just blocking any attempt to say WTS, WTB, Selling, Buying, or any other version thereof in All chat. There are already filters in the game, it wouldn't be hard.
The 90-day ban is a great idea though.

And I don't care about people saying "Oh if you care so much, block the normal channel." Normal channel was put there for a reason. There would be enough solutions to reduce local channel trading a lot. Simply make more features to trade channel which ease your trading and most of the people start to use it instead local one or make trading market town or section where you can drop your trading stuff, set the prices and everyone can go and look at them, buy it if they want and you get gold directly or once you check your trading box or whatever name would be good for it.
Especially young ones with no brains are so selfish that there is no other reasonable solutions.

90 day bans for saying something is a little extreme. its like your mom telling you you cant play guild wars for 3 months becasue you left your dirty laundry in the wrong pile. put yourself in that position its not pretty. i was just using an example im not saying everyone that ever tries to sayt heir items in all chat just forgot.

i think you people that are actually supporting the joke the guy wrote (90 day ban) need to quit complaining and start suggesting ways to improve trade channel, instead of trying to ban every person that does something that you dont like, and/or cannot control

I like the idea of linking items to the trade channel. Sort of like anarchy where it says the item's name and you can click it to see all of its stats in a popup menu. Impliment this, make it only work in the trade channel, and I garuntee no newbies will continue to sell their firey dragon swords in the all channel anymore. The problem would then be to educate them on how to use the new system. Lol.

I think the 90 day ban thing is tongue in cheek... nobody would expect that harsh a punishment and though I'm as annoyed as the rest it hardly befits the crime.

redirecting anything with WTB or WTS to the trade channel would be a great idea. The words "buying" and "selling" wouldn't work because they could easily be used in normal conversation. You could also limit this behavior to only words spoken in the "All Chat" window.

Well it seems that the mainstream lingo for selling and buying in guildwars have become WTS or WTB. So I think it's a good idea to move chat strings with WTS or WTB to the trade channel automatically.

Everytime I have told someone to move their selling or buying to the trade channel is "STFU you jackass I can do this wherever I want." Explaining it to them is not what they need. They need to be redirected automatically to the trade channel.

Once we find someone to gank, we surround them and begin /taunting them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes they run away or map away, sometimes they ignore us.
