So far in my 370+ hours of playing the game I have gotten 4 gold shields and two other gold items. I rarely farm unless I have something else that I have to do in the same area, though.
Has anyone else noticed this trend to get more gold shields than anything else that's gold?

I know of one particular area that always drops max gold shields.
When i'm in that particular area, i definitely get more than anything else.

Me, I get bows. Tons of purple and gold bows. Too bad I can't use them.
Anyway, I get the impression the class or type of monster determines what drops, e.g. you get tons of air staffs from lightning drakes.

I wasn't farming but the other day I found an area where I got two max-damage purple hammers and one near-max damage (18-35) gold hammer.
I wish I knew where to get gold shields, sword and axes. I could do with them, I only ever seem to get decent hammers.

I got my first superior rune last night while playing my 3rd character. Both my other 2 have beaten the game, and the one I was playing was lvl17.

ive found half a dozen gold firestaffs in my farming area, they arent worth as much as swords but they are sellable (guessing this is a word)

Never farmed, and never got a gold shield. I've only got one purple shield 
Other gold items seem to be around, though; I've unlocked quite a few runes from gold armours through 2 characters.

Most of the purple or gold shields only bonus is -1 while hexed it seems. I havent really seen any that are while in a stance or greater than 50%.

I don't get much gold drops either, shields, swords, bows, or otherwise. I'm not good at farming, unless by "farming" you mean "dying".

i never get any gold items. i got a nice gold hammer once, but thats it. and i've been farming...all i usually get are non-max white staffs and bags of 100 gold.

I am farming ele wands right now. Theres a supposed craze for them. I sold a few staves and wands totalling over 100K in the last 2 days
