Can characters created for PvE compete in PvP? What level do they need to be?
I'm still way too new to try it, but I'm curious, and apparently hopeless at thinking up phrases that the search feature will return threads for.

In Ascalon City, the arena cap is level 10.
At Yak's Bend, it's level 15.
From there on out, it's level 20. (Lion's Arch, Henge of Denravi, Amnoon Oasis, etc)
I suggest you try it--it can become addictive!!
Just remember there will be pathetic losers who bring their Droknar-outfitted level 10s to Ascalon. Feel sorry for them and then move on.
Also remember that the PUGs are COMPLETELY random until you hit Droknar's Forge arena--so you can really get stuck with some potty-mouthed people in there, whose sole enjoyment is to insult everyone as much as possible.
Best to keep a thick skin, and don't get discouraged if you get spanked first time out. Like everything in this game, the team makes it or breaks it.
Good luck! I hope you try it.

One other thing I'd add, if you want to compete in the Hall of Heros in the Temple of the Primeval Kings, your PvE char has to be ascended.
