Pre searing weapon drops ?
wmtyrance
I'm new to the game and have a lvl 7 w/mo. When i go into the city i always see people trying to sell weapons that do 7-10 or even higher damage. Where are they getting these drops from. I only got a hammer that does damage like that from a quest i think. I would kill to find a sword that does that kind of damage. The most damage i ever find is 5-7. Is there a place in pre searing i'm missing ?

They're just random drops. Most are rubbish but a few are good. Tougher areas have better drops too I think. Just walk around killing things 'til you get lucky!
I Laughed Last
i got a 11-17 hammer from a quest from devona. in pre-searing, it ruled

Also look at the collector's items - chances are they are selling collector weapons.
Like you can get a 7-10 Ascalon Bow for 5 (err, what comes from the devourer's...) from the collector in Regeants valley by Master Ranger Nemtre (or however his name is spelled).
also, as mentioned some of the quest's do give out weapons as rewards which might be another source for these weapons.
and goodish weapons do drop occasionally. goodish compared to say the collector bow found in pre-searing...
but my bet is they are selling the weapons gotten from a collector.
They make the money because ppl either don't know about the collector's or are too lazy to go out and kill a few X critter to get the needed items the collector wants.
It's the same reason you'll find ppl successfully selling unnatural seeds, worn belts, spider legs, etc in pre-searing. Because ppl want them for the collector's armors but are just plain too lazy to go out and kill the critters and get the items themselves.

If you are level 7 in pre-searing, it's time to move on. Unless you're content at staying there. If you do happen to move on and see my character Alora Chimera on, I'll give you a sword.
Weezer_Blue
swords are overated

Swords are better than axes.
The Charr over the wall give a decend weapon now and then.
At lvl 7-8 you should be heading to post sear were the good stuff is.

That has a great post by Avantos discussing the pros/cons of sword, axe & hammer. I'd advise reading it. also consider doing a search of the forums as the whole sword vs axe has been debated to death. And this is irrelevant to the question of the OP anyways.
As for moving on - if it's your first time in GW, go at your own pace. However, if you've done all the quest's you want to do... then I'd advise you to move on as well, unless you want to try and kill all the charr in the northlands.. heh

Don't worry too much about weapons now. Better weapons will start to drop the more you advance through the game.
I Am A Sasquatch
axes> swords. imo of course. test out weapons later.

I had a 13-20 War Hammer on Pre-Searing, but if you're planning on moving to Post-Searing one day, just do it when you're about lvl 7 or 8. No use of staying in Pre-Searing too long
