Industries in GW
DrSLUGFly
There is the obvious trade industry, in every town it's impossible to talk in All Chat and very difficult to pick up a group for all the WTS WTB WTS WTB happening. (trade chat seems useless really).
There is the farm industry, people who don't get off on trading but instead trade all their items with wholesale traders at much cheaper prices (I like to unload my upgrades at about 50% price. My loss is the cash available but my gain is that I can sometimes drop 20 at a time and be back out playing in 10 minutes)
There is the taxi industry. Now blossoming and becoming quite cool. Runs to every outpost and town from every other outpost and town are available for fees anywhere from 200 g (Ascalon City to Serenity Temple) to 5000 g (Droknar run).
I tried selling Dwarven and Hunter's Ale in Ascalon for 300g (openly telling people that it was 200 in Droknar's Forge but the extra 100 was for my effort) but it didn't come off. I managed to sell one in a very long time of advertising.
Does anyone else know of any industries (large or small) that may exist aside from trading, farming and running? And, even better, can anyone think of any industries that could be implemented with the features now existent in the game, and without suggesting modifications, updates or changes?

Perhaps foto tours?
where for a few g (the more dangerous the more it costs) you get taken to spots that are good for screenshots.
Perhaps even with the runner taken group shots and posting them online for the party to download?

That's actually a pretty cool idea. Kind of fits in with Taxis but much like my failed Beer idea it's a new way to advertise runs (and a new function for runs)
Take your guild photo at the cliff by Wizard's Tower, 2000 gold for the party or 500g per person.

The trade industry is really subdivided into 3 categories:
-Weapons
-Materials
-Everything else (runes, sigils, other things that people don't sell as much now)
There is also a brand new industry I just saw popping up and I had to laugh. A couple days ago in LA (in two separate districts), there were female avatars dancing in the cage behind the rune trader for donations

I've seen some monks asking a price for their services in a mission group...does that count?
TheTim
Some people are putting out special characters in thier trade posts, things like stars, solid blocks and what not. Anyways I saw some people selling the information on how to do that.
Man... some people will try anything to make money.

all, all professions are to offer services in exchange of money or any form of compensation.
But yes, Monk service for money is currently a hot industry.
Algren Cole
I'm gonna start doing End-Game Runs...for 10K I'll run you from ascalon to Sanctum Cay where we pick up the henchies and you give me another 1K and I run you through Sanctum Cay to the Desert....that way you don't even have to play the game
Lorelei
Oh? Why not expanding the service to: split half the money earned by character in game, start from lvl1 pre-searing to lvl20?
Lorelei
Wait a minute....
Can I offer intermediary service. Like sitting on one server and said "Need a monk? I can lead you to one of them."
Would that be equivalent to pimping? Maybe not, just a monks' agent

sweet...you hang out in Yak's bend offering "selling monks services for 500g" then you run them to borlis pass where you refer them to me and I charge them 1500gold to run through the mission...we each make a plat

Monks for sale might reasonably be considered a sub-category of rushers, since both are offering to speed up the game for money. So, I was asking if they counted as a separate industry...although looking back through the topic now, I see that mission rushers aren't actually included either. >.>

Gives me new idea Gambling industry: to bet on fighters in PvP. How to do it:
- fight is 1vs1
- there are 6 "observers".
Can it be done? Oops, I am not endorsing any gambling, even with funny money.

One odd buisness I saw being advertised in Droknar's Forge today was a farming lesson buisness. Don't know how sucessful the guy was, however.

We've offered Ascalon to Amnoon for ages.
At any rate, a few of our guild members are able to solo UW, and charge other groups about 5k a head to come with.
Kind of a hybrid between runner and monk rental.
Oh, and the Sigil industry... well was one. Seems to be less prevalent these days.

I tried selling the BBQ'ed Hog in Yak's bend once, without much luck.

Craziest advertisements I have seen:
In pre sear: a female elementalists said she would dance for anyone...for 60g.
In Thunderhead keep: Monk advertising that he would join to do the mission, pass of fail, for 1k...he then went on to say that if you failed, it was your own dammed fault...not his. >.<

New industry I've seen auctioned a few times lately: Mixed Dyes
Apparently some folks do experiment third tier dye mixes then sell them: Gold, Ivory, Peach, Coke with Lime ..etc..
