Power Shot and Quick Shot ? Any Uses

I can't seem to find any uses for these two skills. Penetrating and Hunters shot seem like better choices than Power shot and I can't find a use for Quick shot that would warrant using a slot and an ELITE one at that. Does anyone have a good breakdown why you might want to take one of these into battle.

Power Shot is an attack that you'd run after Penetrating / Hunter's Shot, if you still wanted another attack skill. If you aren't using an elite attack skill, this might be the case. In general though Power Shot is too expensive for the effect, so I'd leave it behind.

Quick Shot would normally be used to get in a free attack and speed up damage - however I haven't tested it and am told that it doesn't actually increase your net rate of fire, which would make it nigh useless. Of course it's elite, too, so why bother?

They're pretty useless as is. Penetrating Attack, Hunter's Shot and Dual Shot are all better choices. It's been like this for a while. Unless they are changed, there's no reason why anyone should use them in a build. It's a shame because they sound nice on paper...

I would really like to see Power Shot be the most powerful shot so that it can wear it's title. To me, Hunters Shot or Penetrating Shot should be the most powerful shots in circumstance X. So that you would have to think a bit more intelligently or at least creatively about what skill to take with you.

I could easily say the same for quick shot, in fact, I would offer up that the skill is actually broken and not working the way it's supposed too.

So much care and thought has gone into GW I can't imagine two of the more popular skills such as these (for Rangers) being neglected. In a perfect world every skill has a use, just some are more narrower than others.

Peace,
-CxE Correct, as I have thoroughly tested and been confirmed by others on the board, Quick Shot gives you a faster shot, but does not increase your rate of fire. So shooting an arrow in the first 2 seconds of a half moon fire rate, will make you sit there doing nothing for the rest of the 1.75 seconds before even reloading. Quick Shot currently is THE most useless skill for ranger IMO.

Regarding Power Shot, the question is, is Punishing Shot worth it on Shock Sniper?

favorable winds and ignite arrows together.

I think I'm gona use:

Crippling Shot > Hunter's Shot > Precision Shot > Penetrating Attack

Mabe Dual Shot in place of Pen. Attack

The only good use I've heard of for quick shot is getting off one last shot before a preparation wears off.

Also: Preps do not stack, so you cannot use Ignite Arrows + Read the Wind together.

I wouldn't touch Punishing Shot on a Shock Sniper. If you're playing a R/E you should be using Barrage + Conjure, IMO. If you really want interrupts, use Distracting or Savage Shot.

Finally, if you're using Preps or Conjure to add damage, then Dual Shot is your best friend (behind Conjured Barrages). You get twice the benefit from your Buffs.

I would request an explaination. The only thing I see is those situational "oh he's about to get away, or he's dazed, and he's about to pull off something, and if I shoot him, he's screwed".

And that, is definately not worth an elite skill.

I know the logic behind it, but before when Power Shot was like +34, Dual Shot just didn't compare, and I think less so when hit on warriors. So I'm just wondering how effective it is when compared to other shots.

Dual shot fires 2 arrows at 75% damage.
When they hit, you're already doing 150% damage on a normal shot.
An average bow shot is going to hit for 25.8 damage (after customization, before crits).
Range: 15-28
Customization: +20%
Average: 25.8
Dual Shot: 38.7 (+12.9 damage)
Power Shot: 43.8 (+18 damage @lvl12)

On top of that you get twice the damage from any prep or conjure you are running.

If your conjure is level 10, that adds 11 damage.
Average Shot: 25.8 +11 = 36.8
Dual Shot: 38.7+22 = 60.7
Power [email protected]: 25.8+11+18 = 54.8

Winner? Dual Shot, by a fair margin. More if you're running Conjure + Prep, but then you wont be using Barrage.

Note that Conjure Element (Element=fire,air,earth,water) is weapon-enhancing enchantment spell, you would be required proper weapon upgrade or it would not work!

Conjure Type/Weapon Upgrade

Air = Lighting BowString

Fire = Fiery BowString

Earth = Ebon BowString

Water = Icy BowString

Quick Tips!

Keep in mind to use Conjure Element before battle or if a monk casts an enchantment on you and then you use Conjure that enchantment will be gone.

So far the most impressive damage you would get running conjure with Barrage! There can be strange combos like : Conjure + Choking Gas + Dualshot or Conjure + Ignite Arrows + Dualshot for more explosion impact ... or any other preparation (let your imagination flow)

Can you confirm this Scaphism? Or am I just crazy? :P I'm just curious if the armour will affect Dual Shot enough to make other moves better. Probably not though, since the old power shot barely was better, and had like double the damage.
