Salvaging Used Upgrades?
LordMoFo
If I put a bow string on one of my bows can i use an expert salvage kit to get it back? Details Please
Digitalblast
Yes, but you wont always get the string back out. Its like an 7-8/10 chance. Also, if you get it back you lose the bow.
Fye Duron
Yes you can use an expert kit and attempt to remove it back. There is a chance that you will fail and just get crafting materials though.

In addition to the above advice, I'll say that adding a grip upgrade to the bow decreases your likelihood of successfully salvaging the string from the weapon.

^^ beacuse then you might salavge off the grip instead

BTW, you can't salvage collector items.

If your bow is a collector bow, crafted bow - or obtained as a quest reward it can't be salvaged. So if you apply a grip or a string - you won't ever retrieve the upgrade. The same is true for applying runes to collector armor.

Actually, the above is false, atleast as far as armor goes (not certain about the weapons as I haven't tried it). From the June 1st update

Assured that armor provided by collectors can now be salvaged. |
