Combined Guild Hall Suggestion Thread

These are all excellent suggestions, although some are certainly more needed than others. Every time I go to my guild's hall I get depressed. There is so much potential in the guild hall, and it's not being used. But I think perhaps the most overlooked, and the OP hinted at this, is its use as a gold sink. The gold sinks that exist in the game currently are woefully insufficient. The guild hall could fix this. You want a guild storage? That'll be 50k please. Oh, you want to expand it? 50k more. How about a skirmish arena? Great... 100k and we'll get right on that. We should be able to turn our guild hall's into an episode of Pimp My Ride, but all those bells and whistles should cost us a TON.
Thanks to the OP for summarizing all the guild hall ideas in one place.

You get the point...
Could even increase the cost for increased capabilities... more storage at a higher price. (Require obsidian shards? Hmm... is that too cruel...)
K
Pashet, thanks for summarizing the points
1. Great. I mean, loving it. Definately needed. Questions, though: for a guild dump, how big would the storage area be? Infinite? Per person? Numbered vaults, each with 25 storage?
2. Dear god, yes. Merchies, random NPCs, maybe even a skill trainer?
3. Nice, but too easy to abuse, IMO. Unless there aren't any rewards; maybe an area to test the effectiveness of builds? Or a PvP area, just for guild members? A practice area would be nice, but it couldn't give awards without being too abusable.
4. That's one that'd be tricky to implement, unless it was sort of like a Collector. 'Collect X of item Y (where Y is a non-tradeable item) to get exp'.
5. Yep. One problem would be with withdrawing gold, though. What if someone steals the entire thing? Or it could be that only the leader could withdraw gold. The least-abusable possibility would be that the gold in the vault could only be used for Hall upgrades; you would see the total balance, and the amount you donated. You could withdraw what you donated, but nothing else. The leader could use the money in the vault to buy upgrades.
6. Yes, yes, and YES!
7. Could be an issue with island size compared to guild size. Unless there was only one house that stores everyone's room in Malletspace
Still, I like the idea. Upgrades for your room would come out of your gold, and then you could move them around, take them away, sell them, etc. Would customizing furniture be a good idea? A question for the ages
8. The only problem I could forsee would be the UI. ANet could probably even use the chat filters for the boards. Of course, only text messages should be allowed; no sigs, avvys, pictures, etc.
9. I assume you mean that #8 wouldn't allow for replying to posts, and #9 would be more like a forum? You could probably combine the two.
10. Fits under NPCs, really. All that would be needed is a limit on how powerful the weapons/armour are. A good idea would be matching the Guild crafters to the crafters of the most advanced city/outpost the player has reached.
11. Hard to expand an island. Are you talking about adding walls/rooms, etc, or trying to add on more space?
12. All you'd have to do is limit the number of creatures per player, probably only one. Make it so only non-human creatures could be captured, preferably non-humanoid. One question: how would you capture the creatures?
13. What exactly do you mean by this? Invite non-members into the hall? Special decorations?

2: eh, im fine w/out but if its there, i wont complain.
3:Practice area would be nice, but they are kinda already implementing it with guild skirmishes... i just wish you could face off against a hench team (no rewards ala faction of course), but just practicing timing, coordination and the like.
4: I think it could be fun, how would you balance the rewards tho? would it even GIVE drops/loot? Or would it just be for fun? My idea is that it could be guild memebers only, and its a kinda mini-FoW type thing, but instead of drops, you get GH upgrades, or drops for the stuff needed for upgrades, know what i mean? so in order to upgrade the hall, you either pay a lot, or beat the snot outta a lot of high level enemies (it should be CHALLENGING to win, like FoW, but not unbalancing. and there should be a hall upgrade or two that you can ONLY get through these mini quests.
5: Isnt this the same as #1? Guild bank i think could be abused, see #1, just wait till you get up to a couple mil, and watch three officers go at once or something. Too much potential for "this guy stole my guilds money!"
6: YES YES YES!!! In the common (flag stand area) there should be a big awards/stuffed heads/trophies spot so like if we go kill glint as a guild, theres a giant obsidian glint skull (like the cool one in droks now) rotscales skull (even tho its a level 30, its pathetically easy to beat)
7: YES. each player can buy their own room (leaders would get one for free) that can be customized, added to/expanded, I want to have a huge room and put tons of stuff in there, BUT make it so other people can come with you into your room or whatever.
8: Unfortunantly this would probably be a huge strain on anets servers (can you imagine the server space to host one of the top guilds that has huge numbers of members? it would get way over the top, what id suggest is two extra tabs on the guild menu, leave the announcement alone, add another "information tab" thats a lot longer, formattable, etc. Im sick of reserving the announcement box for teamspeak info!
9: you mean like a mini-map of the hall so you can draw out paths??
10: again potential for problem causing, think of the LAG man! if your computer had to render billions of potential armor combinations, rather than like what, 75 different sets? (not counting dyes)
while i agree it would rock, to have custom guild armor, the design process would prolly be very tedious at best, and very impractical
11:expansion for what? they are already huge... expanding would cause more problems i think... (with map pathing, etc, especially for "visiting" guilds)
wandering NPCs wouldnt be a problem, as they can be removed at round start, merchant, storage box, etc, all can be removed, but if there is all sorts of weird expansions, then you might start causing problems with other people joining your hall (remember they will have to load all the extra crap you got in there) most of what was already covered has been expansions, so this is either redundant or unnecc.
12: while i think this would be interesting, i dont see it being practical...
13: this would be cool, specially if you could have it in LA or something :P like a roped off area with guards :P
