I baught the game the week it came out, thought it was awesome for a while, but these days i really don't know what there is left to do. I beat the game with two of my characters and all four are lvl 20 (Mo/Me, E/Mo, N/W, W/N). Of course there's still PvP left but the masses of n00bz waiting at the tomb of primeval kings that can't even make it past the ghosts is a real turn off and normal PvP is really, really repetitif. I won't even mention the underworld (as if europe ever had the favor :/, every time it happens people swarm to the temple of ages storming to the underworld before we get the favor taken back). Finally, money is really hard to get these days and people that sell weapons 30k is sickening. WE DESERVE FREE MONEY (ignore my last point)
I didn't add this post to be another of one of those countless n00bz complaining about everything, i just want to know if anybody has the same feeling or if it's just me that played too much , feel free to add on your opinion

You played too much. Take a break come back in mid to end aug when the new areas come out.
Digitalblast
oh, and goto the bar and get drunk.
Helping a noob can be fun too. Sit around in lower level areas and read what people are saying, someone needs help with something, offer. I do it all the time now.

I've often found myself doing just that at the end of the day. I'll just sit in Pre-Sear cities and listen to what's being said. Usually I'll answer at least two or three questions in a 15 minute period.
It's fun, plus I get to see all the really silly stuff people are doing/saying/naming/whatever.

i suggest you join an active guild that does a lot of gvg. its much better than tombs cuz you wont have to worry about noobs in your guild.

Join a guild like Sissy Boys.

I totally agree with you. I have 3 level 20s and currently creating the right build for my taste but yes, I've been playing since April 27th (3 months to the date) and these past two weeks have been boring. HoH and FoW/UW is messed up with people who can't play as a team, won't pool gold or if they die, they leave. At this rate, I'll prob end up buying WoW by the end of August :-\

That old single player "beat the game" logic can ruin games for folks. The game isn't over when you reach that point. That's just the jumping off point and I'm sure you didn't check out all the zones since the linear story skips so much and since this is a mmog instead of a single player game so you have a community to interact with, friends to be made and adventures to be had. And if that fails and you are really bored with the game (and don't like interacting) then give it a rest. Nothing lasts forever.

1) When i said i "beat the game" i didn't mean i completed it at 100% (that would take too long ), i just finished the main storyline a couple of times and you're wrong, i did go pretty much everywhere and got all the elites/runes (even sup vigor, absoprtion still missing ) that i wanted.
2) First thing that makes regular PvP boring is the lack of variety of maps, personally i feel as if i'm redoing the exact same thing over and over again maybe new objectifs like keep the flag for a certain time and more interactive maps would make the games less repetitif (like the idea of getting the repair kit during GvG to use the catapult against the enemy's base which i think is pretty cool). Last thing, doing PvP with 4 vs 4 makes me feel like i'm at ascalon and i get the feeling that the battles are very far from being as fun as the Tomb or GvG, maybe increase max to 6 in a new arena? (yes, i know... in my dreams maybe )
This is just my opinion, u can disagree, no need to burn me down!

The only thing I have found boring with the game so far is the fact that I am stuck at Thunderhead Keep...still.
Other than that, I am working on a build that I am making in PVE to use for PVP once I get the skills/runes/armor that I want for that build.
When I played GW ALOT, I got bored quickly. When I spaced the time played out a bit, helped others, and just went exploring, I found the fun returning.
Do I wish for large massive worlds like WOW and FFXI? Kinda. Large explorable area are nice, but running for three hours to get to the town I want to go to doesnt sound like a lot of fun. Neither does having to deal with Playerkillers and griefers and the such.
The solution, and this is what ANET is working on right now, is the free expansion coming out sometime next month (or so I have read), and the next chapter which will come out next year (from what I have read, it will be the same size map as what we have already). Patience is the key. If you really like GW, but have found it difficult to find stuff to do, wait for the expansion and go from there. If you really DONT like Gw after playing all this time, there are plenty of other games to play.

You.don't.have.to.play.the.same.game.for.ever.
Too much of a good thing and all that. You may still want to like GW, but if you're playing all the time then it's unsurprisingly going to get old.

Guild Wars is not the be all end all of gaming....You shouldn't purchase a game and expect that you'll play it forever(unless it's Counter Strike )...go find something else to do for a while and come back to Guild Wars after you've taken a long long break.

Amen, brother. I switch between Guild Wars and UT2004... theyre so radically different, they make EACH game more fun. Used to throw CS: Source into the mix until Steam permabanned me (I've never used a hack in my life on ANY game, much less CS) and told me it was 100% right... but thats enough of my mini rant on why VAC2 sucks. |
Not that I even wanted to pirate it - I bought it, played it, the game was okay but the company's paranoia just disappointed me.
So I went back to the good ol' classic of UT2k4. I do SO love that game!
Every so often I cruise around discount stores and pick up games that are a year or two old (just got Unreal II for $5) and play them a li'l.
So far GW has managed to keep my attention longer than anything else I've played, and despite all the whining that goes on, it's a good quality game.
That's not to say I don't have my gripes with it - I have a bug that makes my game crash every so often (the Hardware Checking bug that they call feature) that they just won't fix, but all told it's kept me entertained for quite a while.

Yeah I'm thinking of taking a break from GW myself until expansion comes out. Its been over three months now and I am plenty satisfied with the game. Here's a few you may want to try
-Battlefield 2
-WoW (OMG YEA I SAID WoW, but try it before you judge it)
-EVE online(but I can't find a retail copy in any stores, it looks like tons of fun too)
Luckly now, a lot of MMORPGs have game cards availible so if you dont like buying stuff over the internet, you can still try to enjoy these games.

EVE Online does look fun, but judging by the official forum, it's also full of jerks
Not that you'd ever be able to avoid that anywhere, haha. When I get sick of GW, or when I need an extended break, I think I may just give EVE a shot.

Economy = screwed = boring due to the elitest groups who have everything and sell to each other for outragous prices.

Just like the real world?
Other games to consider that I've enjoyed:
God of War
Eq2
WoW
Jade Empire

Just take a break from guild wars for like 6 months.then when u come back there will be alot of new stuff to do.and u will also have to learn the prices for stuff again because it most likely changed.it will be like playing a new game on a lvl 20 guy.
or as others have said help out newbs.it can be fun sometimes and i like when they say "wow your awesome".

You guys are probably right, what i meant is that i was expecting more from this game, was kinda dissapointed by the storyline (wtf happened to the charr, wtf do the mursaat want/where do they come from, and the list goes on and on) ,and the lack of variety between characters/armors. As for other video games i'm all set, i have HL2 and BF2
It may be a good thing i'm starting to get sick of GW, it'll give me the opportunity to focus on university

Well, I guess everyone agrees that this game isn't a game you can play for years because it will get boring pretty quickly. If you've never tried it, try Diablo II, a really great RPG, played it for 3 years, I don't think I'll play Guild Wars for 3 years

After 3 months in GW, I have got bored with it too, and will take a break of atleast 3-4 months soon. Oblivion is what I am keenly waiting for. Daggerfall and Morrowing were just awesome

Oh god, I hated d2. I played it for a month and got so bored of repeating the same thing the 3rd time with the same character that I stopped. Plus in the that month even though i was at hell Meph, I had still only ever found one unique item and it was some useless dagger thing. Though my friend still plays it to this day.

I'm thinking of taking a break from GW too. Eve can be fun... I remember there was(still is?) an Eve radio station... had fun contests now and then.
The main reason I haven't touched Eve for a while (besides the fact that I've been living in GW for the past 2 - 3 months ) is because Eve's environment/universe is so large that it can be hard to actually find other people -- kinda ironic for a MMOG -- but I am tempted to give it another spin.

For a quick, free online MM RPG, try Knight Online. Loads of cheap thrills, good trading, farming, etc.
Yes, D2 was marvelous for years.
Oblivion? Are you kidding? I can hardly wait. This will be the next big thing.
Bored of GW? When I'm questing alone, yeah. When I'm with my guild and having a party, no. There is something about being out in the wild for hours by yourself with no interaction with anyone that wears on you. It would be great if there were surprise quests that popped up unexpectedly so you could have something to search for. . . .

Diablo 2 didn't keep me entertained as long as Diablo did, mainly because you just did the same exact thing over and over. Yeah I have some lv 80+ characters with uber items, but who cares? I can do the entire game solo with those guys. Big bore after the first two or three times.
I grew up with Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard, and Battlespire (Elder Scrolls universe). Of them, Daggerfall had to be the best. Morrowind sucked beyond graphics because after you beat the game (and the add-ons later), you've seen and done everything. Everything was 100% static, where in the prior four games, 90% was dynamic. You could play Daggerfall a hundred times and you'd play a very different game a hundred times. Sure, the primary cities and continent layout were identical, but the rest was random, including the wilderness and beasts. While the quests may be static in GW, at least the monsters spawn in random, and sometimes quite odd locations.
My big quarrels with GW right now, which make it boring for me, are very few. The big pisser is lack of ability to make gold unless you're in the underworld. If you're in the UW, why the hell would you need gold? Meanwhile, you may want to upgrade from that Ascalon armor by the time you reach Yak's Bend so you're not killed in two hits fromt he tougher monsters. I think each region should have one good farming area. Hell, Dragon's Gullet in the ascalon region does not appear used for anything, so why not make those monsters drop more? It's a long trek to get out there, but worht it if you can farm. I am finally at the desert but have heard people say it's now nerfed also. Yay.
Next big quarrel is with the general quest and monster setup. One thing I disliked about Might and Magic VII, was the INSANE number of enemies in areas. The henchmen are useless in those areas in GW. Not everybody enjoys getting some complete stranger who just wants to rush through an area to help them. I enjoy doing stuff alone, but since that's impossible, I get stuck with henchmen most of the time. I hate being forced to do something in an RPG. If I don't want to play with humans, don't freaking force me to. Let me play with the NPCs and be done with it. Thing is, after Lion's Arch, it's damn-near impossible to use just henchmen for ANYTHING. They should adjust the number of enemies based on the number in the party, and whether or not it's human or NPC.
Finally, I am sick of a few specific bugs in-game. I died six times last night due to a frickin' spell bug. Had life syphon cast on me for -3. Killed every monster on the radar. Life Syphon never went away and eventually I was unable to cast Healing Breeze, and I died. Then there's the bug where monsters that do 1~30 damage dish out 300+ damage randomly. I don't mean spells or special attacks, I mean just randomly you'll see 300 or so pop up instead of 30. Insto-death. Never had this problem in the earlier days of GW. This makes even grinding away hard.
That's why GW is getting boring to me. The big thing is not being able to make cash until the end of the game, where you shouldn't need it, but there's also the bugs that piss me off and the inability to play alone or with just NPCs. I *HATE* trying to cooperativly play with some complete stranger with a totally different playing style. A player shouldn't be forced into anything with a role-playing game. However, if I could change one thing, I'd probably change the inability to solo. Next I'd fix bugs, and finally I'd definatly fix the economy and drops.
That reminds me, I have twenty runes (minor and major), and several that go for over 3plat. The frickin' economy is so damned smart that it fofers me 25 gold for those. How the HELL does 3plat equate to 25 gold?! Give me half at LEAST! Anybody wants any mesmer, necro, or monk runes, PM me in-game and I'll sell them at half price.

Yeah they nerf a lot. It's because of bots and ex-diablo/d2 players (haha kidding I'm one as well)
I dunno. I love this game and I've been playing pretty much straight since the day it came out.
What is boring me is the fact that I cannot create another character. I absolutely love playing characters through the game, and I am really sad that I now have 4 lvl 20 characters and not much left to do but farm/explore and pvp (which I am not very into to be honest)
So I definitely think I'm going to take a break and play some HL2 .. my fiance and his brother have been playing that and I could use some good first person shooter rampages.
I totally think I'll play GW for years though, as long as they keep the updates coming. I think eventually I'll get into PVP.. I just don't really feel like it right now. I'd rather try to figure out how to farm snake dance
It's totally player preference in my opinion.

Getting gold is quite easy. You just have to know right farming spots and builds.
PvP boring? Have you tried PvP matches with people who know the things? It's a lot better than with newbies and/or n00bs.

zakaar, dude, i'm not a hardcore gamer, i have no envy nor time to try to exploit any action that the source code can allow, all i want is to have FUN. The whole point of this game when it started to develop was for it to be different from the other games like WoW for example, where you have to play 24/7 in order to get a reasonable chance of unlocking good stuff. As for the storyline, it's **** you can't deny that, it's so random somtimes . Last thing, how the hell am i supposed to try out new chars build if i can only have 4 o_O No way i'm gonna erase a char is spent days on...
