Best solo PVE builds?

Anyone have any good solo pve builds for me to try when I get the game? I won't be trying any pvp till I learn a bit, and I can't decide what class to start with. I didn't preorder till after the BWE so I didn't get to test anything out.

Thanks for any advice!

a warrior monk is a good solo combo, or be a fighter type and have a monk henchman

Try the Suicide Monk build on the forum, the updated one. It can solo like nothijng before it.

One thing to understand is that soloing in this game is limited to low level areas. High end PvP is going to require a solid team working together just to complete - soloing isn't even in the discussion.

Thus the question immediately turns to - which low to mid level areas do you want to solo? Riverside? Design something with solid physical defense and strong melee attacks because you're going to be fighting melee packs all day. Seaboard? You probably want an Elementalist with as much damage as possible so that you can punch through the waves of undead towards the end.

If you're looking to experience end game content, however, you need to design a character that will mesh well in a team environment, because that's where you're going to be.

Alright, the suicide monk sounds fun. I was also wondering if ranger/monk would perhaps be a faster killer than warrior/monk? I'll probably try both of them.

My husband and I are hoping to play a Mesmer/Monk and Ranger/Elementalist and mostly duo, and were hoping we could get away with hiring henchmen now and then. It looks possible; I'm so psyched!

On the other hand, the fact that we're all on the same server means that it should be easy to find like-minded people to group with.....and I want to group..... Hmmmm, what a dilemma. I love it.

(lives in Japan, so can't pre-order, and is miserable everyone here will be playing before her!)

i never tried this build or seen anything like it in action, but it think it mite work for pve

ranger/mesmer

marksmanship 11
expertise 12 (10+2)
inspiration magic 10

tigers fury
lightning reflexes
barrage (e)
favourable winds
barbed trap
ether feast
channeling
energy tap

the whole idea is to power up your shots to take out a group of monsters ASAP and then use inspiration skills if you run low on energy or health
the expertise should prevent you from eating up energy too fast and if you're equipped with a fairly good bow you can probably clear up a bunch of monsters pretty fast by spamming a pumped up barrage
