Looking for a guild

Mo/E

I'm one of those players who participated in the World Premiere Event of Guild Wars. Those days that I played Guild Wars were really great. I missed the first couple Beta Weekend Events, but when I returned to Guild Wars I returned to find that the old capes that I wore in the World Premiere Event had vanished. Now, It's obvious that the developers had removed them. I know they probably weren't all that popular with the majority of the crowd. I happen to be apart of the minority though, and I really miss those old capes. For what reason did those capes have to be removed? Is it not possible to have old style of capes and new style of capes together? Why, as a leader of a guild can I not choose for my own wether or not I want a certain style of cape?

Simply: I want the option of wearing those capes. I can choose wether or not I want my guild cape to be torn, and I see no reason why I can't choose to have my cape like the ones in the World Premiere Event.

You mean the ones that looked sort of like football "pinnies" and went over the front/back of a char? You are a minority.

I still refuse to get a cape for your quild until we are allowed to toggle them on and off and/or more design options. I don't find the current cape style friendly to all class armor styles.

Yeah, I think those old "cape" designs would be nice to have around sometimes, too. Like, you know, when I'm in Lion's Arch, on the beach, eating crab legs. I'm always getting butter and crab juice on my nice jacket lapels. If we had just had bibs, that would be one less thing for me to worry over.

Thank you.

Or if you're in the role playing district in International 1 and you and your current IG spouse have just had a child....

we should acually have class specific capes. Like for the necromancer, we'd have scarfs, or something. =/

That wasn't a cape, it was a doublet and it hung down just as far in the front as in the back. My personal opinion is that we're better off with the capes we have now.

Sorry, I can't support you here. I enjoyed world preview, but I found the capes back then lacking. Sorry, I don't have any screenshots from back then. Oldest I have is betas. Just think of half a shirt on the front and back. Thats what they looked like.

Haha nm posted too slow. Thats what they look like.

The old "Tabard" can be seen here (note the Necromancer's yellow tabard).

The new cape can be here here.

The tabards were generally not too well liked. The capes have been much more popular, although, yes, having a toggle will be a very nice addition! We can't mix because of the implications in PvP, where the divergence in appearance, in a game where split seconds matter, could be a little confusing.

Make capes have to be on in PvP and problem solved

Gaile only said they couldn't mix the "tabards" with the "capes", not have a toggle to turn them on or off, as a matter of fact, the toggle would only work if you were in a city or mission outpost. Capes would automatically be on if you were in a mission or doing PvP.

Yeah your right I miss read sorry. As for automatically being on during missions or exploring I don't want that. HAve it be only always on in PvP (all types) and everywere else it is up to the player.

There, problem would be solved. The minority and majority would be served. I can't say I'll be donning the "tabard" anytime soon though.

Heh, they look awful. They are like those cheap plastic things that we used to wear at school to distinguish one team from another.

Yeah I must agree, I really liked the old interface MUCH better. However, I guess the currnt interface is more customizable, since you can move everything around and stuff. Still... wish the buttons had real, actual borders.

They should just bring it back and allow us to move it about like the current one.

Oh god I remember those! Those were wicked, I think it would be great if that was yet another one of the cape creation options or something. Say when you create your cape it's just another sort of style you can choose, god I want one of those on my current character so badly...they rocked! I'd be happy if I could only wear in in PvE.

It was actually the world preview event and yes they were cool for some things. I say bring them back, but only as an option. Have them in worn in PvP and the new capes on in missions and towns. Everywhere else they could be toggled or something like a scarf to fit in with the armour design.

WPE capes were ugly... They looked like you borrowed some midget's clothing and tore off the sides.

There were so many people who asked for the current design of capes and they are cooler. The bibs were a bit --- well I didn't like them but I don;t see why they can't be an option. I remember saying during betas that things in the UI or clothing should be kept as an option for release. I think there are some issues with too many assets or something having to be downloaded when you enter a town.

There's probably a reason why those tabards weren't seen on any Rangers. =P

I'd say those tabards would look good on Warriors only, and only if they were longer. But, they are appealing in a way. I guess.

I still want more options where to display guild allegiance. The cape only option is a bit lame, IMO. And capes still look stupid on rangers... and most eles, too.

Yop, that's why our guild will remain cape-free until capes become toggle-able (heh ... that's a funny word ... toggle-able ... hehe )

To be perfectly honest, I really don't like the capes at all. The Guild Wars armor styles and such, for the ones you like, whatever it might be, are very nicely detailed and such. Take for instance the 15k female Wanderer's set for the monk. With a cape, you can't see some really great artwork and detail! It's really worth it to get the cape out of the way. The same is true for the 15k female Bonelace and the 15k female areomancer and hydromancer sets!

My guild broke up about 4 days ago and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw when the cape was gone!!!

To be perfectly honest, I wish there was an option to wear the cape, or maybe have locational emblems that characters in guilds can choose. Like instead of a guild cape, a no emblem option, cape option, an emblem on the shield option, maybe a streamer on weapons . . . . I dont have all the answers, just personally, I'd like to be in a guild and not have to look at a cape all day when the characters I play all look so much better without a cape at all.

Yeah, I noticed that! I really hope this is soon. We've been holding out on getting a cape until it became togglable.
