Can a Person With Ranger Sub-Class Tame a Pet?

The title really says it all. I would like to know if I can be an Elementalist/Ranger and still have a pet. The pet is kinda vital to my character's roleplaying, so I would like to see if I can get a definative answer to this before I start playing.

To make it more general, do you get every skill that your sub-class has available, or only a choice selection?

Any ranger, primary or secondary, can charm an animal.
All you need to do is to get the "charm animal" skill onto your skillbar and find a suitable animal to use it on.

You'll get access to all skills available to your secondary class.
