Gold Items-What To Do With Them?

After complaining that I never found gold items, I found 3 last night in an hour of playing!

None of them were useful to my character, so do most of you sell them to merchants, sell them to other players or salvage them? Just curious.

I am an oddball packrat. Unless they are just total crap I usually will just hang onto them in hopes that I'll find a friend with a character that can use them. I'm not big on trading because spam gives me a headache and I can't stand to be in a town too long trying to sell something. Currently I have 4 characters that are stuffed full of runes, upgrade parts, purple, and gold items.

If they aren't great, you can sell them or even try to salvage them. If you are a philanthropist, you can go into the nearest town and donate them to someone who might be able to put them to use.

It really depends on what the gold iteams are. You have a few options

1) Sell it to the merchant
2) Trash it (not a great idea since you can always do option 1)
3) Sell it as is to another player
4) Salvage out the modifier and sell seperatly
5) Possibly add a good modifier to increase it's value/usefullness


As I said what you do depends on what the item is. I don't really know the values of anything since I spend basically 0 time doing any type of farming but if you posted what the items were I'm sure someone on the boards could help out. If you aren't sure the best thing to do is save it until you can find out the real value of what you have.

You may want to check the Buy/Sell forums and compare your items to those being sold by others. Depending on how good the upgrade/run may be in one of your items, you can salvage the upgrade/rune and sell it for some spending cash or just sell the item as is for the same amount.
Lastly if they are useless to you, you might see if a friend could make use of them or a guildie. Typically for Runes - you won't get crap from the merchant by selling them (i.e. a Superior Vigor rune used to cost you well in excess of 60plat from Rune trader, but if you sold it to em.......ummm lets just say you wouldn't be able to buy 1 piece of 15k armour)

charge 5-30k ( or more ) and add to the elitest economy! yeah!

make sure you put GODLY GOLD in front of whatever you are selling.

lol It depends on what it is usually.

a gold unided armor fetches more than a gold weapon unless it is a gold weapon with great mods.
