I'm still trying to figure out what I want my 4 characters to be. As I used to play an Enchanter in EQ so many years ago, and a similar class in DAoC, one of the classes I'm interested in playing is a Mesmer. Of course, the Mesmer fast cast is a poor primary attribute, so I'm going with E/Me.

I've made this build as a disruptive force in PvP. I don't have a lot of experience in PvP beyond my loose time in the Tomb area during the first and second BWE, so I'd like a critique of this.

2) Backfire (3.000/20/15e): For 10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, that foe takes 105 damage.
3) Physical Resistance (0.000/20/10e): For 70 seconds, you gain +40 AL against physical damage, but you lose 16 AL against elemental damage.
4) Spirit Shackles (3.000/5/10e): For 21 seconds, target foe loses 5 energy whenever that foe attacks.
5) Spirit of Failure (3.000/10/10e): For 30 seconds, target foe has a 25% chance to miss with attacks. You gain 4 energy whenever that foe misses in combat.
6) Soothing Images (2.000/5/10e): For 16 seconds, target foe cannot gain adrenaline.
7) Empathy (2.000/20/10e): For 16 seconds, whenever target foe attacks, that foe takes 21 damage.
8) Glyph of Renewal* (1.000/15/5e): Your next spell recharges twice as fast as normal.

With Glyph of Renewal, I should be able to keep many of these Inspiration/Domination oppressive hexes chained. Looks like I could even chain Backfire!

Verses the Melee who will inevitably close on me, I have soothing images, Spirit of Failure, Empathy, and Spirit Shackles; vs casters I have Backfire. I will keep Aura up for passive self-healing, and Physical Resistance should essentially give me an effective AL of 100 for 70 seconds.

I'm obviously not a nuker, but I think I'm built to survive and cause trouble.

I'm concerned, of course, that this build simply can't really deal direct damage. Replacing Glyph of Renewal with IW might solve that problem, especially as I'm geared to take on Warriors. Also replacing Spirit Shackles w/ Conjure Phantasm might work (though spirit shackles seems a great way to deal with Rangers).
