Map Pinging: Don't you just hate...
RTSFirebat
People who ping the map 5 times in a row, constantly!
Had some pushy guy (Who wasn;t the leader) pinging the map in UW over and over again just because he wanted us Trappers to setup in odd places.
When me and the two other rangers pointed out we know better, which was true since I've done trapping before I know he quit...
Ping abuse is almost as annoying as drawing penises on the map, see another thread for that

yes one person pinging 5 times is bad... but being the only person in an 8 man party who is not pinging on the map is even worse.. i would leave, but im not that type of player...

While I tend to agree, having recently started attempting to do missions with real people, instead of with henchmen as I usually do, sometimes you have to ping the map repeatedly just to get some peoples' attention before they run off in completely the wrong direction and get everyone killed. And even then there's always one who ignores you...
What annoys me the most is when someone repeatedly pings the map in the wrong bloody direction. Drawing a face with pings is even more so, especially when you're trying to use the pinging system for a constructive purpose at the time.

Also the mission where you drag the "All Seeing Eye" around the map. The "Chosen" keep pinging the compass. Drives me batty. I keep thinking someone is going the wrong way as well.

The repeat pings aren't so bad. After all, it could be more than one pinger doing the...erm...pinging. That's when having colored "markers" for each player on a mission so you know who's pinging would be helpful.

spaming doesnt speed up anything, it just prevents everything!

5 times in a row isn't bad at all. I have people in my party (especially in harder missions, like Thunderhead keep) that click for as long as they possibly can. Gah death to pingers!

most of the time i play is with my guildmates, but when i join a group of pubbies theres about a 1:3 chance of getting a 9 year old in my party and satisfies himself with the attention he gets from spamming on the minimap. i usually don't talk when im in a public group.

its also just wonderful on the dunes mission when the sand wurms ping on the map, and there are usually two people that go and attack them , you tell em not too, then they ping again and off they go, very annoying

i was on my newb ranger and this guy kept pinging the spot where devourers would pop up.i said stop it doesnt matter when they come up!!of course he didnt listen.so i drew a mob onto him and he died.being the only one with rez(sig) i left him dead.he left after that.we went on to finish the mission.

A long time ago, while doing Sanctum Cay with real ppl, some guy kept complaining about the pinging. He didn't realise that when you drop the Sceptre of Orr it pings itself so you can find it after a battle or if you leave it in the water. When I tried explaining it to him he didn't believe it. Think he might have left but I can't remember for sure.

Those pings in the first part of thunderhead confused me every time...a few times I even responded to them in chat. >.>
