Collector's Edition surprise...
Vampire Russell
From my understanding, it looks like the collector's edition "gift" is an emote?! No way! i hope someone will reason this out and make me feel better, cause im hyperventilating just thinking that i paid x-tra for a "cool" emote....
Kirbie
im happy with an special emote...
arenanet is trying to be fair to everyone...
giving extra advantage "in game" because a person paid extra cash doesnt quite sound fair...
after all, collections has all the extra items(such as headset, artbook, music cd) to make up for the cost anyways.
note: even people who spent extra money on expansions will have fair competition with people without expansions.
and i wil still feel special...because i will have a special emote that no one but people with collectors have....with extra glow of course
p.s: if it does provide extra buff....my character, which is a monk will become everyones prime target lol.

Even if you got an in-game item, how long do you think you would actually use it? I doubt they would give an 'uber' item to people willing to pay the extra $30 the CE costs.
The CE comes with more than just the Divine Aura. In my mind, the soundtrack and the hard covered art book more than make up for the higher cost.

not to be a troll but.....can't you just buy the art book one eBAy. As I write this I am still not sure if I will get the Retail or CE version

You'll probably be able to from EBay, as I'm sure some people will sell it off. Guess one way to find out is to see how many people are selling the WoW art book that came with it's CE.
Edit:
Just searched EBay for any WoW art books, and I see none around - a few CE's, but nothing from inside the CE for auction. May be a portent of things to come regarding Guild Wars' book, especially because the game is good

well you can buy it if someones willing to ebay it obviously, but you can never predict the supply and demand of something that has yet to be released so who knows how much that little book will cost ya.
I went with the orriginal box, because i figure ill save the $30 towards the next expansion

And you didn't pay any extra for it. You paid extra for a headset, a music CD, an art book, and 3 months professional TS server hosting. The Divine Aura is, as you said, a gift.
Ren Falconhand
just to let you know www.upallnightgaming.com has free TS hosting to anyone.
My guilds has a channel there so go check it out.

Glowing emotes is better than anything I could have hoped for from the CE. Takes no inventory slot, doesn't make you stand out in pvp, doesn't overpower you.
Vampire Russell
i knew you guys would make me feel better...i guess it was an initial shock and im soo over it now. thanks again!
kizayaen
Personally, I was kinda hoping for something like the sticks they used to give you once you surpassed a certain Fame rating in PvP. Didn't take an inventory slot, didn't have any real in-game effect at all except to be a form of visual bragging. No concerns about game balance. Q.E.D.

Im buying the CE because i need a new mic
and i wouldnt mind having a artbook, so im ok with it.

I bought the CE for the art book and the CD. That alone is worth more than the $30 extra for it. THe headset will be a backup, the TS I'll donate to my guild (if we ever need it, we ahve our own TS server) and the Divine Aura will be a cool thing for the first day or so.
SoulHunter
I'm probably going to sell the mic, since I don't really voice chat. I bought the CE just for the artbook, Divine Aura( even though it might be an emote, I just like it anyways), and music cd. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the TS, maybe give it to this forum I go to a lot's guild if they create one since a lot of guys there play this.
SSE4
Personally I'd rather have an item to activate it than an emote, but everyone has their own preference.
Gwars
is it realli worth getting the CE???

I personally am thankful that the game is out in 2 days. I am buying one CE and one basic to use for character experimentation on a computer in my network (and so my daughter can play with us).
They could have put a pound of Charr dung in the box and I would still opt for the CE.

I'm getting the CE. I have a job, so 30 dollars isn't a ton. I'm determined to be all I can be at GW, so I want the aura, even if it's not too useful. The artbook and soundtrack are both nice, I like such things. The headset is very appealing, my only microphone is almost as old as I am. The TS hosting, I plan on dedicating to a gaming community that I'm a member ofl; it recently lost its TS host.
Enix
Let's not forget that it comes with some Logitech Mic/Headphones. Those are worth about $15-20 on their own. Plus three months of Teamspeak, that is at least worth $15. Add on a spiffy in game "whatever" and the Art Book and I'd say you are at LEAST getting what you paid for.

After BestBuy screwd me on my Delux-Edition...Im holding out, I had bought the collectors edition, then it got cancelled (then the price got jacked) then the cloth map dissapeared, then they6 added a divine aura, (wich is like holding a bulls3y3 over your head, n0w im sp3ct1cal ab0ut getting the CE version. Mabe its smarter to just get the normal c0py and target every0ne with a gl0wing [email protected]

I think some might be taking the initial release information about the Divine Aura
incorrectly.
"It's really sort of a surprise, so we don't want to show it. The Divine Aura is not an item that you hold in hand, it is not something that you equip or wear, nor is it a constant effect. When the character uses an emote, there is a special effect that reveals itself, which is "the favor of the gods" in visual form"
To me this says that when they use AN EMOTE. Meaning, any emote. You won't be getting a special emote all your own.
The effect on the other hand is a mystery.
I don't know if that clarifies things a bit or makes them more confusing. We'll know soon enough though.
Also, it does specifically state that it is not a constant effect as others have mentioned.
