What is "spiking"

can someone give me an idea what a spiker is or spiking

spiking - in GW it means to do alot of damage in a very short time. air elementalists are quite good at it

or .. when you see your team in "Dark Red" HP bar within few seconds

courtesy of idiotic monks or us overzealous fire nukers

The downside if this is that any balanced game (which GW is) will severely limit how frequently a character can apply spikes.

A spike group can be pretty deadly, hit a 6 elementalist, two monk group in GvG and they nearly wiped us out... But thankfully we had a very good mesmer.
