Divine Aura
Mslynx
I just had another thought about the Aura. If in fact you can turn it on and off at will, won't it be a handy thing to have in dark places?
Thy Shadow Wolf
The Aura sounds pretty sweet if I do say so myself. I really liked emotes (End of Beta Dance Party *laughs*). I also wasn't expecting anything special with the PO items. Either way, the determining factor for the CE for me was the soundtrack and art book
SoulHunter
Some of you guys should stop complaining about the Divine Aura. You don't know exactly what it is, so what are you complaing about.
Lunarhound
I still wish that instead of either an equippable item or an emote, they'd make it an aura that could be applied to your weapons. I'd rather have my weapon glow than me.
Mslynx
A glowing weapon would be great! What if it was a crap weapon though? I don't think I would want that glowing!

Here was the response I recieved from Gaile:
I never meant disrespect but my initial reaction was a negative surprise at learning it was something like an emote. I have full confidence in her words and will wait patiently to see the aura for what it is and discuss it in this or other forums.
Quote:
Dear Chris, Divine Aura was modified as a result of tester input, where they suggested that taking up an inventory slot, and having to equip their aura, was less than convenient. For every person who doesn't like the idea, there is a person who does like the idea. And none of you have even seen it yet. I suggest that you wait on the petition. We are not going to make a change at this late date, let's be honest, and I feel it's pretty disrespectful to the designers that you would tell them how to do their business when you have not even seen the Divine Aura yet! Hold your opinion at least until you know about what your talking, if you please. If at that time, feel free to make all the petitions you choose. Feedback is always welcome, although I'm hopeful that you'll find the Divine Aura to be quite nice and something of which you can be proud. Thanks for your support of Guild Wars. Regards, Gaile Gray Community Relations Manager Guild Wars |

Enough said then. Thank you for the post.
DLO604
interesting, so will we be able to take off the divine aura anytime we want or will it be on permanently?
Raiku
anyone check this out yet?

I would just like to point out that in order to put a value on something you MUST have something to compare it to!
if you were a beta tester for City of Heroes you got.. umm.. nothing, oh we may get a 'badge'
If you bought the collectors edition you got..
a VIP 'badge'
Badges do nothing at all by the way, but are part of a 'gotta collect um all' style of play which people like.
A Slide power.
This also was nothing more than a nice glowy effect around your feet as you travel the city.. it did nothing, and in honesty looks crappy and cheap.
So, compare this to Guildwars....
An Item that.. WHOA, actually DOES something!
and an Aura which... Well, if it does anything more than look crap all the time im looking forward to it , I like the idea of it doing something with an emote.. hopefully it would make for some interesting screenshots
So in conclusion:
You are already getting FAR more than the industry already regards as acceptable.. so er, show a little appreciation

18 - 33 (Blunt Damage) Req 9 Hammer mastery
+45 Health Req 8 strength
+20% Damage
Pretty damn dood starter weapon, I've been using it all morning and I'm lovin it. From what I hear the Ithas Bow (EB Games item) is sweet also.

just bought CE and back of box says:
Collector's Exclusive: "divine aura"
Each character you create manifests the gods' favour with a glowing aura, visible to all

Yeah, I like the preorder items.
Most games would have had it like 7-10 or something.

I just bought the CE and tested the aura in the game. It's not an item, and isn't an emote itself, but it appears whenever you do an emote (e.g. /laugh, /dance, /guitar, /wave). It's not a full-body aura as I had expected, but it appears at your hands. For example, the necromancer has a green poison-looking liquid (like the sludge that comes out of a necropolis in WCIII) around his hands, the mesmer has pink stars, the ranger has fluttering leaves, and the elementalist has a blue energy cloud. I don't know what the other two look like, since I haven't played as them. The "aura" automatically shows up whenever you do an emote (I think the exception is /sit, where you don't get the aura). This wasn't what I expected, but is still cool, and I must say I'm very satisfied with it.
here're some screenshots:

And yes I realize it's just an item for show. However we were sorta hoping our group who all got the CE, could run into battle with the aura on.
Oh well, here's to gank + /violin
Rage
Im just curious to see what it does...
parabola
Doesnt really look like an 'aura' yet it still seems interesting. Light show while doing an emote!
CrazyGirl
i was hopiong for a power that would ultimately be somewhat worth the xtra money i paid for it...character light shows werent what i had in mind lol...hosed

So are these items just from online pre-order? I pre-ordered and picked up the game at my local gamestop. But there is no mention of getting an in-game item. I got the CE and all it says on the box is getting the Aura.
Rage
ahh cool, I see I did see some glittery stuff. Hmm not what I expected but, The book and cd are worth the extra 30$ That book is awesome!

Yeah no items for the CE. You get what it says on the box.
Richtus
Oh well. I shall become Uber through hardwork without the aid of any special things! I'll just be glowy!

Does "that book" have anything to do with the ingame storyline taken from the lore section? That would be totally worth it for me if it was a full on story book.
The lore section is sweet.

the divine aura sucks, cant they make a full body glow while doing emotes, not just glittery hands, i was pretty disappointed when i saw it.
Deagol
From the screenshoots I think the divine aura is far better than I had hoped for. Instead of a big aura screeming "I'm a dork with too much money", the effect is much more subtle. It now whispers "I'm a dork with very good taste"
Burodsx
I don't really like the Divine Aura... I'd rather go around killing things than to be doing a magic show for kiddies.
"Hey look at me when I wave my hand"
For the most part, the aura somewhat gets in the way of the view of my characters emote. So when I'm dancing, a good portion of the dance isn't nearly as visible thanks to this smoke screen type aura.

Ouch, now I know why they didn't release screenshots of it before launch.
Wildfire
whats the command to turn it on?
MegaPsycho
I happen to like my bone idol:
+8 energy (requires 8 death magic)
+30 Health (required 8 blood magic)
+4 Armor (requires 8 curse magic)
Im a minion/bloodmancer / Healing Monk, so the extra health and energy is nice. Once I combine all that with a full set of scar pattern armor, Ill be using that insane amount of mana to mass summon skeleis and healing.

The divine aura is alright. I bought the CE for the soundtrack so I really didn't worry about what the aura was all about. The artbook was nice too and I was shopping around for a new headset anyway. The CE is worth the money if you appreciate everything that comes with it.
TheSaint
I got the CE for the book, and CD. I thought the aura would be a nice bouns, but it was a letdown... Glowing hands when I emote dosnt seem like an aura... I thought it would be some cool graphic like when you cast a spell or something... but anyhow, I didnt buy the CE for the aura, and now people have seen it, I dont think the aura will motivate people to buy it... lol
Mabe they will make it better... *wishful thinking*

I suggest calling your store and asking if they have these, as it was supposed to come with all pre-orders, CE or not. Or EB is just that much better, but I am leaning on it being all who preordered, as the Auro is for anyone who gets the CE, not just preorders
|
This is semi correct.. However talking to EBgames they only had a certain ammount of the extra disc. So say they have 5 discs... and 6 preorder... The 6th person wont get the preorder disc or the in game item or whatever comes with the pre order.
This may be what happened to the other poster.

Personally I think it's complete garbage (and before anyone flames me, you have your opinion, I'm allowed mine).
I have better ways to spend my time than farting around in a city doing a /dance. If people think it would get boring after a while, give us an option to turn it off.
That's the great thing about computers - so many possibilties. You could even give people an iption to leave it as is, if they like it this way.
Saying CE buyers get a special divine aura is an absolute crock. The hard truth is that we get flashy emotes. No more.
Major disappointment.

The Divine Aura is dissapointing, especially because it's not even an aura.
At the very least, I figured we'd get something like the boss monsters have--that kind of aura with the colour based on our primary.
THOSE, incidentally, are auras.

Glad I didn't get the CE then. Already have a headset and can see all the art online.

Yea the Aura is a bit disappointing...
Cant they change it so you have the aura on all the time... and make it according to ur primary/god...
Dwayna (Monk/Air Elem.): light blue or white sparkles
Balthazar (Warriors/Fire Elem.): Red sparkles
Grenth (Necromancers): Black sparkles
Lyssa (Mesmer): Purple (?) sparkles
Melandru (Ranger/Earth Elem.): Green sparkles
Dont know if water elementalist has god, wasnt in the manuscript... perhaps blue sparkles...

I don't mind the aura, but like some other people, I would like to see the ability to toggle it on and off. My reasons are:
1) I like to take screenshots, using emotes to pose. Sometimes the aura doesn't fit in.
2) Try playing rock, paper, scissors with two divined people. Yes, you can tell them apart, but the glowiness around the hands makes it very difficult to distinguish without rotating the camera round to zoom on the other person's hands.
3) A friend pointed out to me the aura added to thefemale necro's laugh makes her look like she's vomiting (she puts her hand to her mouth, and green sparkles drip down).
