dude i have already checkede there, it says that a staff can have either a staff head of defense or a staff wrapping of defense, and i want to know if its a head upgrade or a wrapping upgrade i have on, so i wont spoil anything when i put an insightful staff head on!

Is it Defensive staff of blah or blahstaff of Defense?

Staffheads are prefixes, wrapping is suffix.

If the mod you have already is from a staff head, it will prompt you and advise that if you add this it will replace the mod already existing. The same will happen all the time after you have 2 mods on the item.

Not really. I got a purple longsword of shelter (15-22 damage, +5 armor, damage + 10%), and I added a shocking something-or-other to it and all it did was change it to "Shocking Longsword of Shelter" and added lightning damage. I think you CAN have a prefix and suffix, just like in Diablo II, which is nice.
