Is it possible...

...to duo in this game? I was not fortunate enough to be able to participate in any of the beta weekends.

My friend and I are going to try duoing together, will we need support of other players to progress? Is there henchmen you can buy like Diablo? (I read about this somewhere, just not sure if they're suitable replacements for players?) Also does difficulty of instances scale depending on how many players enter?

Yeah you can "duo" in PvE. You don't have to pay for henchmen, but the drop rate will be lowered as if they were other players. Just like if they were also getting items. The money dropped is also shared between you and the henchmen.

I enjoy soloing or playing duo with my friend time to time.. But some mission will probably require you to get more people beside NPCs to complete them. Playing with other people is also very fun.

PvP on the other hand is not the best place to duo. Better get a party with real people. Even tho i heard a couple of people managed to win some fights with henchmen.

Hope you enjoy the game as much as we all do. And don't worry, the majority of guildwars comunity is very friendly. So you wont have trouble making new friends in game.

You cand duo in GW, but you'll need henchies. It's possible to complete all missions solo with henchies...but it's hard. Damn hard.

No Idea

For the BWE missions not including Fissure of Woe and Underworld, it is entirely possible to solo without henchmen from the tutorial all the way to finishing Sanctum Cay. But it takes alot of time, and is not recommended. Well no, Riverside is recommended. But that's only if your character is soloable.

You simply click the NPC and invite it into your party like you would a normal person. In the cities you'll see an area with a warrior, mage, healer, ranger, and whatever else standing there, saying nothing. They won't give quests, they won't even talk to you. Just click whichever one you want and invite.

You will always be able to be in the same party as your friend. However, always fill your party up. Having 4 random people is better than having 4 henchmen on your team.

Henchment are NPC's that will follow you around and come in several different professions. You should only use them when you can't find a human player cause human's are (usually) better.

I tried but was unable to take 2 of the same type of henchman. Is it possible to take, say for instance, 2 healers or 2 warriors or what have you?

Nope. Though there are now two types of warrior henchmen. A fighter and a brawler. I haven't used the brawler so not sure what he does. And you really only need two healers for PvP and the Temple of Ages linked zones.

For certain things, it might be better to use NPCs. With both, the money is equally split amongst characters- meaning that each NPC gets an even share of the gold, essentially losing it. The positive is that NPCs cannot get items sent to just them, so if you are hunting for rares it might be better to use NPCs (taking into consideration that you will have to go to a lower level dungeon, from their lack of AI).

Since there is no beta atm, I cannot test if you get a lower amount of items dropped to make up for the fact that you get all of the items.
