It's hard to give stuff away
Sunrazor
I walked into Ascalon with a bunch of unidentified purple armors and a bunch of max damage swords. It took a half an hour to give them away. How the hell does anyone manage to sell anything if it's almost impossible to just give stuff away?
(or are people stupid and paying 10k for a 13-18 gold sword like I suspect?)

I think it is easier to just watch and wait for people saying they want to buy what you have.

It's too bad that you can't just throw things on the ground and leave them there for others to fight over and pick up. LOL....now THAT would be an arena I'd love to see but only if they made it so people could knock one another down and scramble around like hogs in a mud bog.

In my opinion i think it would be awesome if guild wars would have a shop setup option like Kal online. Where you can sit down make an advertisement to go above ur head set the price for items and wait for people to buy. It would reduce spamming on the trade channel and people wouldnt have to sit there pressing enter and up all day.

Agreed. I always wanted that because i hate asking wtb black dye 90 times, but u cant haggle in a store.

I personally hate it when someone tries to give me an item. It's like... here! You'll obviously need this! Don't play the game yourself, let me play it for you!
This game is not about items, nor is it about trading stuff. You don't stroke your ego by passing off stuff to others. It's a great game to play... but it's not about proving how good you are by collecting items.

Where do you get "stroking ego" out of giving stuff away? I give stuff away that looks cool and I hate to sell it or salvage it. I gave away a long sword that looked like a crystaline sword the other day that didn`t have great stats but I hated for it to disappear if someone else could enjoy it. Believe me, my "ego" was not stroked.

Point taken that you cant haggle from stores but it would cut back on scams. The other day i was sellin some swor for 50k sum dude wanted started the trade he offered 50 gold instead i noticed and closed the trade but many get fooled by that and item switching. Shops would eliminate that pretty much.

However, I don't give things to people out of the blue. I'll say it a time or two and then, if not takers, I just sell it to the merchant.

You shouldn't give stuff away anyways unless it's to a friend.
1. It's apparently hard.
2. The random person you give the stuff to learns nothing other than that they can leech free items off of people.
3. Most people are unappreciative anyways.
4. You don't even need good items to beat the game just fine.

Poor orange jumpsuit noobs, hahaha. I lead them all into the nastiest enemies in the area. Half of them died instantly while trying to grab high end armour pieces and piles of coins!! ROFL, i still laugh to this day.
The best way to give stuff away? Party up and drop it in front of them
quanzong
I think this game is very similar to Diablo2, so its very hard to give away certain items. Unlike common drops its easy to give away.
But you dont allways get drops, same with Diablo2.

If I knew you were giving away max damage swords I would have taken one... unless it was a spatha or flambrage, then it's a maybe: those swords are too ugly for my tastes.

If i'm in town and i'm selling some items and I find a Long Bow in my storage that doesn't sell for much, I won't destroy it. I'll just announce that i'm giving it away so sombody else can get a kick out of it.
Blue Steel
Stuff is either very valuable or very common and not valuable, not even worth giving away. Minor runes, max swords with no inherent damage mod: anybody can get these, just dump them at a merchant/trader. It's a pain to give them away and its a pain to sell them. If it isn't over 3K in value, its hardly worth the time it takes to sell it for its proper value. Just dump it and move on.
Sir Skullcrasher
i would love to have someone to give me free stuff

I like Aniewiel idea! It is best entertainment if you could throw stuffs on the ground and get people beating up each other to get them

I find it pretty funny how some of you are insulted by the generosity of others. It gives me a very clear picture of your personality. Just a few weeks ago, there were so many newcomers to the game it was impossible to answer all the question without being stepped on in the chat. Now, everybody is an expert and everybody is calous towards a generous player.
A couple for weeks ago, I got a free max-dam Purple Flam from a player, but I didn't need it. What I did do was add a firey hilt and armor pommel on it and carried it around, not to sell, but to give to someone who truly needed it. Sure enough, two days ago I was in a group and a player had a crappy sword, but after the mission, he had mine, no charge. I felt better for it.
Maybe if some of you folks who fail to leave your egos at the door realized the gift of giving, you'd stop spending so much time trying to get such absurd prices for junk and play the game.

LOL! Thats what made Runescape awesome. Drop partys. Everyone low level and high level hoping for the best stuff and getting insanely excited over even the smallest thing that drops. Its also contagious. If one person is dropping, usually a second will start. Its insane but so much fun.

But giving away stuff for free truely is timeconsuming.
I've been trying to get rid of my gold-axe gold-cresta gold-whatever for days.
I met a guy from denmark and he has the same problems. His character and his storage are full with runes/items, useless to him, and he hasn't found people yet who want them.
People seem dumb enough to rather pay horrific sums of money instead of getting the same item for free.
