Why do you have to be right next to someone to trade?
Commodore_Mcawesome
Exactly what the thread title says. Why do you have to be right next to a person to trade with them? Lions Arch District 1 - wow, you just bought an item that you've been looking for for a while now. Now the quest is to find where the seller actually is! Why not just add in a trade window similar to the party screen, where you can just type someone's name in and it opens a window with them? It seems like that would be much easier and save tons of time in trying to figure out which person is the one that you were supposed to meet "by the storage".

Add them to your Party then move and keep double clicking his name untl you find him. Now think about it how in the world could you trade with someone 100 ft away with you?
Dead Panda
The same way you taverse thousans of miles upon miles of treacherous terrain in a mere second.
Why not? There's no way to abuse this anyways.

2. Since when is Guild Wars about realism? If you want realism, then I ask you, where does my character go when I'm not controlling him? How do I warp out of a pack of griffons and back to town without dying on the way? How do I die and not be gone forever? How come I can stab a guy who's wearing regular clothes twenty times and he won't die? How come I never eat/drink and still stay alive? How come.... and it just goes on.

whats so hard about saying "meet me by docks" or "meet me by light house"... the reason you cant trade from 7000 feet aways is because you cant throw that far, i see nothing wrong with the current way it is, if you can communicate then there is no problem with the trade system
/disagree, if you find something wrong with the way it is stop trading...

What a stupid idea. Suck it up and actually move somewhere. Don't be so lazy. :P

Guy #1: "I've got 10 - meet me at storage"
Guy #2: "I've got 10 - meet me at docks"
Guy #3: "I've got 10 - meet me at fountain"
Guy #4: "I've got 10 - meet me at rune trader"
Guy #5: "I've got 10 - meet me at entrance"

I personally go to shop when I have a few items that I need to buy/sell, and it sucks when each seller/buyer is at a different corner of the map.
You can't yell to people 7000 feet away either and yet you can add people to your party from across the map. Also, as I said earlier, Guild Wars is in no way, shape, form, fashion, or any other fancy noun based on some kind of reality that we know. Not plausible. I guess if I think that drops have been nerfed too much I should stop picking up items? |
2) Yelling and trading are two diffrent things.. what this suggestion is saying is like saying "why do you have to be right next to a merchant to sell?"... being next to the person is just common sence, like somone already said, dont be lazy, obviously if your playing a game you dont have better things to do, so whats another 10-30 seconds?..
3) What?.. im going to nominate this for least relevant comment of the year

Why do I have to be so close to curse something to death....I mean it's magic, right? I shouldn't even have to see my target, right? Seriously magic is supposed to be....well, magic right?
Okay,okay.....a bit sarcastic maybe......but then just like someone else pointed out, why do you have to be next to a merchant to buy and sell? Why do you have to be next to the Skill trainer to get new skills? Why do you have to be next to an NPC to get a quest or mission? All pretty much have the same answer.....whether or not you agree.....it just makes sense. Otherwise why even bother to have NPCs in the game, or anything other than targets to fight?

Alright, alright, I get the picture guys. Bad idea, then. Don't put it in, Anet, for the love of God.
But before you guys damn me to Hades for suggesting such an awful idea, let me just say that I didn't make this post because I'm too damn lazy to walk to someone, although as I said, if you trade a lot it gets tiresome, I made it because it's often hard to pick out the name that you're looking for when you're surrounded by a whole crowd that look exactly alike. I know I have bad eyesight, so maybe it's just me, but I thought it might be helpful to others as well. So sue me.
Edit: Although I would like to recieve actual feedback on this, not just "this idea sucks" or "I'd rather have...". Please don't attempt to hijack my thread.
Fake edit: For those of you that don't understand this, that means please attempt to make at least SOME attempt at manners. Although you may be accustomed to being a bit brutish, I'd like a little respect and I can assure you that it will be kindly returned.

Next you'll be seeing a thread titled "Why do we have to invite people to join a guild?" lol. I suppose you could throw item(s) and money back and forth to each other...

Moderators, please lock this thread, if no one will take the idea seriously, I would just as soon it be gone. Thanks in advance.
