Hello, today I just made it to Sanctum Cay as my 12Ranger. I did it with henchmen the entire way, but decided to skip the missions after Lion's Arch merely because they weren't exactly enthralling the second time around. So, I made it to Sanctum after a lot of deaths--I fought most of the way--and decided to get the cool near-max armor that the "crafter" outside had crafted for my elementalist.
However, when I did go there, I found, to my surprise, a completely blank crafting window
So, not knowing if this is normal or not, I'd like to know what the deal is here. I made it 100% legitimately and on my own (unless you count henchmen as 'sploitz) and I can't craft the armor that I have the money for. This is kind of frustrating.
Is this a new thing or did Anet wave its magic nerfbat in my direction? My friend made it here as a 14ele and was able to get the armor. All I can guess is that it's either been changed all around or Ranger armors aren't available here. And if it is some sort of change, how exactly is it helping us at all? :|
Thanks in advance.
I'm not familiar with any noted changes on this...

Crafter dude works fine. I just ran out there with a lvl7 that I'm powering through the game with money and he offered me his entire stock. So it definitely wasn't a prerequisite mission to activate him or anything; your visit was bugged. Go back. =)

I'm under the impression that his offerings do not include armour for warrior or ranger. He is also missing one of the elementalist sets and from what I gathered from a guildie's griping, he doesn't have the enchanter's set for mesmer either. I poked him with my level 20 ranger a month ago, nothing as well.

Gee... and here I was getting hopeful that ANet was putting some limits on low level characters rushing to get high level gear. Oh well, hope springs eternal.

If they can get to the Cay crafter with henchies, I say let them craft the armour. Course there's no way to tell who got there on their own steam and who paid to get rushed. Ah well. Elite gear does not a smart/good player make in any case.

Thank you for the info, Supervixen. I thought this might be the case, but didn't know why myself and my necro friend would be able to get armors while a Ranger couldn't. Now that I think about it, it's a good way to make sure players go through the missions to get maximum benefit.
As far as why I needed the armor, as the only human and puller in a hench group, I tended to take a lot of hate and die quick.
Also, where would I be able to find the nearest AL armor? Either less or more than the crafter's armor? ty

Hmm, the crafter in Ventari's Refuge/Henge of Denravi offer 400g armour.
Next best is at Amnoon Oasis with 700g armour.
I've not come across a 1 plat crafter for ranger armour. Rather unfortunate, I was hoping to grab such a set myself to last me till Droknar's. My elementalist was all smug with his 57 AL armour. Still serving him well post-ascension.
The collector armour from the desert is of the same AL as what's in Droknar's already, that is 70 AL. By the way, the 700g armour gives 61 AL just for your info.
