Mo/R Help
Broken181
OK, I've had my Mo/R ever since I got GW, and I don't want to change my secondary until I know how to get the best of what I have now. I was wondering what skills and attributes I could combine to do some good damage dealing alongside smiting prayers, since I don't want to be a healer. I mostly want to do this so I can prove all the people that say: "YOUR A PRIMARY MONK HEAL US FFS!" wrong. Also I'm not looking for people to just dismiss the idea, post something consrtuctive even if you DO think it's a bad combo.
NOTE: If I sound like an ass, I didn't mean to, it just kinda happens, I just see this having some potential for some reason.

My favorite Smiting combo is Mo/W. Equip a sword, get max smiting and line up these skills.
Smiting 16
Divine Favor 10
Protection 8
Balthazar's Spirit, Zealot's Fire, Flurry, Watch Yourself, Reversal of Fortune, basically a bunch of minimal recast time skills to spam on yourself.
Balt's Spirit is for Energy and Adrenaline gain.
Zealot's is your main source of damage.
And the rest~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alternatively, instead of Zealoting off yourself. You can use Draw Condition on a Warrior. And stack Balthazar's Aura on him for more damage.
This way the warrior is doing all the running for you and Draw Condition has no recast time.
I'm not overly thrilled with the combo myself, but I've got some ideas for you:
- Try using Kindle Arrows or Apply Poison to beef up your phisical attack.
- Don't bother with Divine Favor, it will not help you.
- DO use Troll Ungent, as it may be better for healing yourself.
- Stay away from Rebirth if you value your Energy. Rebirth is great under the right circumstances, but you're going to need all the Energy you can get.
- Protection Prayers might be a viable option, and should supplement any stances you use.
- Go with Bows rather than Wands or Staves. I say this because you'll probably want some nice phisical damage to suppliment your magical damage, and bows are the way to go with that.
- Don't bother with a pet. To effectivly use a pet, it costs at least 4 skill slots, 5 maybe. Plus, you don't want all your skills to go away suddenly when your pet bites the dust, right?
- Inform the party ahead of time that you're not a healer. This lets them know not to rely on you, and gets most problems fixed before they start.
Basicly, figure out what kinds of weapons you want to use, and set up your skills and attribute points accordingly.
Use traps, flame and barbed specifically. Traps use wilderness survival so you could also use skills like: serpents quickness (shorten the long recast on traps and smiting skills) troll ungent (possibly the best heal in the game) natures renewal (why not?) along with apply poison or kindle arrows or whatever.
mo/r is probably the weakest combo in the game
traps can work but thats generally only for warriors and i believe theres several more effective ways to null out warriors
and i dont know how you can say troll ungent is one of the best heals in the game considering its horrible casting speed and you cant cast it on an ally
oh yes, self heal...but he said he wasnt a healing monk, why would he want to heal people anyways?
For me, troll ungent heals for 100 health per energy and costs 2 energy...doesnt get better than that...
and traps are good against anyone, not just warriors as narrow minded people believe. Just set them before people get there and scoot back, not a very hard concept.
I play a trapper without marksmanship and I end up getting the majority of the kills on my team. just remember to stack as many traps in 1 place as you can.
and there is no such thing as a weak monk, even without running skills from any other class, they can be a bigger pain than the whole team combined.
I'm currently running with a Poison + Smiting Mo/Ra... Never had any problems with it and as long as you warn people ahead of time, its pretty easy to get into groups. For the most part I use a bow to poison and then lay into the enemy with smiting spells. I can generally keep myself healed...and once in a while I change up my skills and add in some traps. But traps don't suit me as well as poison+smite.
Thanks guys these are some great ideas, one weird thing though, I had apply poison, but I didn't use it right away, I came back to try it and it was gone. Anybody know what's goin' on here? I've even gone to skill trainers and I can't find it. I'll PM you some time tonight if you're on Zen. IGN: Chairon Morningstar
Thanks for the info Rahl, It's still weird that it would just disappear though.
Mo/R will probably start getting popular soon. Melandru's Resilience is one of those spells that synergize perfectly with the ever popular Quickening Zephyr. Add in Draw Conditions, and you have absolutely ridiculous energy regeneration.
