Hi,

I finally convinced my son that he wants to have an elemetalist, so we (he) created one last night, but, I'm unsure what to advise him to take up as a secondary profession. He's sort of young and I would really like him to be able to play the game well, rather than becoming one of those kids no-one likes because of stupidity on their behalf. (he's young enough for me to influence him still )

Anyway, as I'm not a big gamer, and have no real experience with Eles, I thought I'd ask you guys instead.

Now, the reason my son doesn't have a warrior is because he's watched us play, and heard us whine about random people (mainly invincible warriors) aggroing everything, (I have a healing monk) and he would rather not be right in the middle of the fight, so...that's definatly not a second profession for him.

And I am planning on making him stay in pre-searing until he has a decent understanding of the skills he has.

Any advice/comment is welcome

First off,

You should check out this: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...list-id235.php

It's an overview and a bit of strategy of elementalists

There's also a list of ele builds but you won't be able to use them until your son develops his new character and unlocks many skills.

For your ele's secndary proffesion, I would go monk or mesmer.

Have fun.

I'd say pick one of the other caster classes. Does he know what type of elementalist he wants to be? That might help him decide his secondary. If you two can't decide, go El/Mo... healers are always welcome. Also you can change your secondary later on if you like.

lol.. I actually clicked on all three links... only to discover they're the same, and I had read it before.

Thanks for the advices though, I'll pass it on and see what happens... will post here what he ended up picking.

go with monk

i made an ele/mo after toying with my mo/mes

using a full bar of enchantments with ether renewal is go godly. every time i'm low i just hit the renewal and start spamming divine boon. you'll be full of energy and hp with in 2-3 castings.

i combine that method during battle to trigger zealot and have aura going at the same time. you can't die and you'll have infinite energy for the duration of renewal. renewal also has a decent recharge.

If you're looking to keep yourself alive in PvE, go with E/R with points in energy storage and wilderness survival, then whichever element you choose. Fire is most common because of the hardhitting abilities. My main char runs this build and i love it. I can get through most of the game with hench, thus alleviating the problem of people blaming me because they don't like my build.

Well.. he's picked monk, and is doing suprisingly well. It seems to suit him.

Mo is good, it is what I am using at the moment. But dont underestimate Necro as a second. Offering of Blood, Well of Power, and Life Transfer all go a long long way to helping your ele. But as they are all Elite, you can just get them and play around with them after you can change secondary. Still, I think Necro may be the most veristile class. It is very overlooked.
