Secondary class change

So i'm almost finished ascending for the first time and i'm looking forward to changing my seconddary class. I made a rather grave mistake with my char in that it's an elementalist warrior. I thought at first that swinging a sword and hurling fireballs would be really cool, but i've since learned the hard way that elementalists are NOT supposed to go melee.
So, i've been wondering if anyone has some good suggestions for a secondary class. Right now i'm torn between either mesmer or necro. Any1 have any good suggestions?

Sorry to diverge a little, but I've been wanting to know whether the changing of your secondary class after Ascension can be done more than once..? So if I wanted to change my secondary profession *again*, that wouldn't be impossible..?

And I see many E/Mo's around, perhaps they might be worth looking into.

You can change it infinite times after you complete the quests, then talk to one of the guys to change it. You wont losee attribute points already equipped and you dont lose the skills. BTW, what kind of elementalist are you?? pyro ,aero, geo , hydra??That matters too.

To make a proper suggestion it would help to know what you hope to accomplish with your acharacter. That said, why not keep your warrior secondary and change your playstyle? A w/e would have been the better choice for what it sounds like you had hoped to do. But adding tactics to my elementalist skills has worked out very well in giving me good defense options. Rather than rely on earth magic for defense I can max out fire for optimal damage, and use tactics (shield, disciplined stance, healing sig) for low or no energy cost defensive options. Having energy storage makes up for not using a focus. I should note that my current build is a PvE build, I haven't really tested out any PvP config.

at first i was hoping to wreak havoc with inferno and phoenix at close range, but in order to survive, i'd need either a really good protective monk or decent earth magic. But then that doesn't leave me many points as i'll need earth, fire, energy storage, tactics, and either sword/axe/hammer. Needless to say, trying to juggle all of these attributes would leave me an extremely weak jack of all trades.
If i were a mesmer, i could stack hexes on top of my nuking spells and if i were a necro, i could take advantage of blood spells that restore my energy
I like the suggestion of monk though, that combined with energy storage could lead to lotsa healing spells...

I don't think you are too far off from being able to do that, but you should reconsider using a melee skill since being a primary E makes you a better caster. With points in Fire, Tactics, and Energy Storage you have good AoE damage, a good mana pool, and enough tactics for a max shield and choice of some good defensive skills.
