Well, boredom in a couple of months is better than most single-player games

most people can finish a normal single player game in 20-80 hours (depending on the game and their game playing style). Whereas with GW it's easy to clock up 200+ hours of playing and still have plenty to do in the game. and we all know maths .. 200 > 80 and thus worth the money IMO even if you don't plan on PvP'ing.
My advice is if your considering buying GW and have the time and a decent net connection.. try d/l'ing all the GW movies you can find as well as looking at player screenshots. A lot of the movies are "dance" movies, but there are a fair few PvE & PvP movies around that will show you the gameplay in action.. the movies and screenshots are a fairly good way of deciding if the game looks appealing or not.
For me, it's definately been worth the money I spent on it. It gets patched quite frequently, there is a new free summer PvE update comming soon as well. No monthly fee's.. and you *can* play the game quite successfully if your a casual gamer..
Unlike what people might say.. you don't need that uber max damage gold sward of pwnage.... LOL You don't need the top gear to succeed. Just play through the game and use what you find as well as what you can afford as you play. Simple as that and it works.
