Just tried afew of the other names ive used in other mmo's and added things like Lord/King/Prince ect but were still all taken...... even tried Ryu Hoshi (Ryu from street fighter - i'm a big street fighter fan btw) and it was also taken

Just taking your forum name here, I'm sure you can make a name. Here's a free thesaurus listing for 'dark'. http://thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=dark

Plug in one of those words as a first or last name, and use Ryu for the other. Certainly there's a suitable combo.

Just tried Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology - guess what I guess i just wont be playing Guild Wars, oh well back to WoW.

I’ve even tried things like "No Name" and "Cant think of One" and they were also taken - imo getting a name on this game is just taking the piss and if its this hard to get a name then I don’t really see the point in playing it,

why not try nicknames/where you live combos eg `sir yamyam of swad`nickname and abbreviation of town where i live. `wizard of swad` .or combining names from books/films etc. `agravain cadarn` is two characters from a book by bernard cornwell.

just download that Ragnarok game and use it as a name generator it's worth it even if it does produce Nordic sounding names

Don't forget there are thousands of player on this game. WOW has different servers (same for all the MMMORPG), GW has only 1 big world, and everyone is playing in that world.

I'm quite puzzled that you won't even try the game with a random name. There was a lot of suggestions in this thread and you cannot tell me that there was not even 1 working. I'm sure you're not alone that want to begin a char and other people succeeded in choosing a name.

Open WOW and try the random name generator... use it two times to generates two words and you got your name.

Sorry for being on a downer but who wouldn’t be almost 4 hours after buying the game and still not being able to get a name that actually sounds decent for a fantasy game (isn’t that the point in a Role Play server?) and after all the different names I’ve tried are taken its quite disheartening that I am going to have to settle with something shit just so I can actually play

You're the one asking for help, if you want to use you name those are legitimate options and i seriously doubt their taken. learn to be appreciative instead of sarcastic, it'll go a long ways in getting you some help.

The name generator a few posts above is extremely helpful, as is using first names such as "Mistress, Lord, Baron" etc. I haven't had any trouble making my own names... combining various names from different mythological creatures works, "Pythanthenon" lmao...

Exactly. Finding a decent name is easy, you'll probably just find all the clichéd names (that you appear to be trying) are taken.

Be a bit original rather than just naming yourself after characters that already exist. You wouldn't believe the number of players I've seen called "Aragorn" and "Legolas". Don't these people have imaginations?

The names I picked were used already, I just altered the spelling a little and *ta da* an original name. I wouldn't give up playing the game (and $50!) just because you can't come up with a name... as has been said, try different spellings, your thesaurus, your dictionary -- all it takes a just a smidge of creativity. I've also seen some people use spacing between letters to form one name, but the spaces fulfill the multiple name requirement. I'm sure you can come up with something! Keep trying and let us know what you come up with!

well its been 4 hours 20 minutes since I bout it and I still can't think of a name, guess I’m off for some food as I’ve sat here trying to come up with a name longer then I normally play computer games in a day,
