We have a very small internet data traffic limit over here, so we always have issues when it comes to online gaming, so i was wondering how much data traffic Guild Wars generates, per second? per hour? anything will do.

Hmmm...that may pose a problem for streaming content. I don't know that much about what the downloading will be like (I'm doubting that there will be as much as the last BWE), so wait for some answers from others.

Actually i mean the traffic without the streaming updates, it doesn't make much difference from any other form of updating in terms of data traffic, does it?
I hope they don't plan on any updates on the day of release or the 2 last days of april, cuz we're already close to our limit

From what someone has told me. You have a monthly limit on your download right. Then this game might just might not be the best for you. You should look into Directv satilite or any other broad band. But I dont know what is out thier for you.

Don't worry, we've (we=me and my bro) been playing games such as CS and Warcraft 3 online for some time now, we rarely download movies or games, so we manage, me and my brother have been constantly bothering our parent to get adsl, we found one which is faster and has no data limit, but my mom says the modem will cost too much
Anyways, i'll manage.

Hmmm I myself have a similair issue. My stupid Canadian Rogers ISP capped everyone at 60GB per month a few months back. Though I think 20GB a month reserved for Guild Wars will suffice.... right ^_^"

So nobody around here knows how much data traffic GW uses?

@ Primal98: we have a limit of 20gb per 2 months.
How's that for a perfect example of a RIP-OFF?
But, if GW uses about as much as WoW does, it'll work out, i calculated i needed about 20 weeks of constant gaming (24/7 that is) to go over our limit with WoW, let's hope it's the same here.

In 15hours i used up 400-500mb.
might be less.. (this already excludes the game download)

So you don't know for sure?
Did you visit many areas in that 15 hours? That would mean the game itself would be very large, i believe somewhere around Lion's Arch was 300 mb or so.

They already stated in the last Fansite all the maps etc... will be on the CD's. This means that your downloads will be relatively small if you use the CD. Unless they add maps/areas. This we cannot forecast. In summary, use the CD (then you should definitely not download more than a GB per month) UNLESS they do some major revisions/additions that we can't foretell (my bet is that all the additions will be saved for the next chapter minus a few small ones). This is the best we can provide you.

Geez, it must suck to have a limit on your isp!

It sure does and then to pay way too much for just 1 extra gb

Just to get back on this one for anyone interested.
I just checked my total data traffic spent after 6 hours playing, and it was about 60 mb, which would make it something like 10mb/h.

That sounds about right, if you reached some new/busy areas. That would be about 2777 bytes/sec average, and mine usually runs between 200-something and upper 2000-something bytes/sec.

you guys should get Earthlink ADSL. I have this one. One thing I like about it is that there is no montly bandwidth data limit. But you have to pay for the price though which is $49.95, ouch. I have a part-time job that pays $12/hr so it's no prob

4kb/sec is what i get away with - no lag

14.4MB per hour that is
