That happened to me earlier today, thought either the game took a crap or my graphics card did. Glad it's not only me.

I see it everytime I head in that direction. The statue will be whole, but as I get closer, it hits the ground. You'll see it quite a lot if you look around, an image will be 2d from farther off, but as you get closer you'll get a 3d sprite of it.

I think the 2D effect from a distance is intentional - kinda like fog affects that make it seem far away.

It almost seems like it's an illusion or mirage as opposed to falling down everytime -- like from a distance it still appears to be there but in reality it fell conveniently to make a bridge.
