Multiple installs
Lunarbunny
I'd like to know if I'll be able to run the same copy/key of GW on two computers at different times. As I live at 2 different households, I would like to be able to do this so that I don't have to buy 2 copies.
Also, can you log on on a different key after you've registered your account with your own key (i.e. going to a friend's house)?
Oh...can you run the same key after registering with a seperate one (as in my brother at one house and me at the other) so that I don't have to install two instances on the one computer here (there are 2 computers at the other house)?

Well because the key is tied to your account, you can only login with one instance onf an account, so you can have multiple installs on every pc you want as but you can only have one person useingyour login details.
Loviatar
it is your account based on your email and password
you would probably need to install it on both but your account isnt tied to one pc
as for the rest i will let someone who is sure about that answer

yea, you should be able to play on either computer using one account, you just won't be able to play on both computers with the same account at the same time.

When you install guild wars and try to play it will have you make an account using you e-mail address and it will also ask you to choose a password. Once you have done that you put in your cd key when it asks and to play the game you login through your e-mail address and password and you can access the game from anywhere but only 1 person can log in at 1 time. The game itself can put installed on as many computers as you can find the time to put it on, only 1 person can play the game at a time though.

Hello
I've bought two copies of the game (nearly bought 3, but stopped myself just in time before one of my sons said that he didn't really like the game after all). The version ordinaire arrived on time on release date and the Collectors Edition will hopefully arrive a day late (today!)
Two of us had a great time on the last pre-order Beta weekends.
My question is: now that I've already installed the standard version of the game, is there anything special I need to do with installation of the collectors edition? I'm really just worried about not receiving my Divine Aura? BTW what is a Divine Aura good for
I've looked at the official FAQs and they said that we would have to re-enter a key, which we did NOT have to do with the standard version install. Just installed the software and then entering account name/password must have linked to the pre-order access key.
Perhaps the games discs for standard and collectors are identical and the collectors special item is just activated by access key?
Cheers

Ahem! Excuse my red face whilst I reply to my own question!
I just thought I'd try and log on and basically it worked.
I cannot believe that I was off work with a bad back on release date, and believing that I'd need a key from my collectors box I didn't even try to log on! At least my back is still hurting today and I cannot go to work - I wonder what I'll do today?

no - you will be able to share an account, but for her to have her own account you you need to buy another copy of the game.

Aww... can I get some comfirmation on this?? Teh wifey's a lil' upset that we'd have to buy a whole new copy to play together.... Is there a way to move a char to a new account??

Like everyone said, if people want to play GW on multiple systems, they need to buy another copy of the game. I know its a pain but that how A-net design the game so that it stop all the piracy things from being broken. (and the possibility of having one person with hundred account)
What i can confirm is that your GW account is link through all four character that you make, for instance, one of your character join a guild, the guild name along with all the other information would be transfer onto all 3 remaining characters. One more thing, the game limit people to 4 character per account that basically leave the combination of 2 PvP and 2 PvE for people to choose from. If you want to move one character to another account, that can't be done, since all the login information is on your current account not the new one.
Not confirmed but heard from other people, the storage box (or as i called the black hole of death) is link through all the character basically you can put stuff in for your next set of character, say your a W/M you found a gold bow, you can save it for your next character by putting in the storage.
I know it sucks but getting a new copy is the only way to play with your wife, since there no way to log in to the same account at the same time.

I started by playing in a PC cafe and later ordered my cd. For both accounts, I used probably a total of 15 different computers before finally having my internet connection at home. There is not relationship between your account/id and the computer you use.
And yes, you have about 25 slots (I think) for ALL characters, not 25 each.

What i've done is create a second character and go to storage after post-searing and withdraw 4,000 gold and a nice purple staff left by my first character, takes the strain out of buying at first.

I can definitely confirm that you can. I wrote Anet yesterday asking them if I could install the game on my brother's PC as I am going to visit him the next couple of weeks. They said 'no problem'. The only thing you can't is play simoultanously, but of course that is not what I had in mind either, so everything is okay
